CASE STUDY - Color and Unity
Art Drop #2
THEME - Family
As always, here’s the goal of these “Art Drop” posts:
- show you part of my portfolio (my ability)
- show you the STORY behind it (how I’d work to tell YOUR story)
Piece 1 - “Brothers” - Babar Azam & Mohammad Rizwan
Piece 2 - “Reborn” - Virat Kohli
Medium (both) - Acrylic on canvas
THEME - Family - portraying this with Color and Unity
All 3 subjects depicted are renowned cricketers often regarded as “Kings” by their respective countries, Pakistan and India. Every time they play, they carry the weight of a nation on their shoulders.
These were painted in 2022, during that year’s T20 World Cup. Indian “King Virat Kohli” ended his drought of low scores to play “The best innings of his life”, in his own words. Here’s the scorecard if you want to check out the details of the exhilarating game.

When India and Pakistan play, the world watches. Fans around the globe work around the game schedule, be it at 3 pm during a workday or 3 am on the same work night. For one game, whether it be 3 hours or 7 (ODI format),
Each nation is a family.
With these portraits, I loved the idea of limiting myself to 1-2 colors, and for such icons of their nations, why not the colors of their countries?
The vibrance of GREEN and YELLOW represent the LIGHT that Babar and Rizwan, longtime friends and essentially “Brothers”, give to all of Pakistan.
The contrast of BLUE and ORANGE meanwhile, represent contrasting euphoria, the “Reborn” FIRE that both Virat and every Indian felt in seeing their king take back his crown, and the COLD of years of pain, wondering if they should retain faith in their national team. This fire undoubtedly, led to their promised moment 17 years since they’d won their last T20 World Cup, as this year’s 2024 Cup Champions 🏆
A big thank you to all my teachers and mentors
