Our Story:
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $75,000.00 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. In addition to VITA, the
Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program offers free tax help for all taxpayers, particularly those who are 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors. The IRS-certified volunteers who provide tax counseling are often retired CPAβs and retired individuals associated with non-profit organizations. Our mission is to keep folks from becoming pray to predatory lending and flight by night Tax Preparation. Marion County VITA was started in January 2005 at the Josh Gibson Center as an additional program to help the community with FREE Tax Preparation, then we relocated to the Marion County Court House Annex in July 2018 in order to be more centrally located in our community. Income Documents such as W2s, 1099s, etc. Form 1095 A/B/C Health Insurance (for you and all your dependents.) If Applicable:
Form 1098 ( Mortgage Interest)
Child Care Expenses. Form 1098T (Education Expenses.) Last Years Tax Return. Bank Account Information (Bank Routing and Account Numbers if you want direct deposit to your account.
