Holiday Hearts for Vets Making Christmas brighter for those that served us. Our Military in the Rockbridge County area of Va . Inspiration from Decorate a Vet, Church Falls, Va.

To help and pay it forward to disabled and/or aged vets or newly widowed . To brighten up the Christmas season for those that can't. We want them to know that they are not forgotten and that we Thank them for their many sacrifices. We clean up the yard, rake, pick up and decorate the outside of the house. They also receive gift baskets, certificates and many goodies. When we are done we take the debris with us. Then we go back in January and take it all down for them.

We had a great event at the Moose Lodge #2346 down in Moneta, Va. I veggied today but will post pictures and talk about it more tomorrow! We had a great time!

I have to share with you a poem one of my veterans sent to me, Thank you Mr. Ray Ward.

The Poem is called "My House"

“My House”
Come by my house it was decorated for me, and it was free.
Just because I spent some time in The Navy,
They put up lights green, white and red.
I have been here since 1988,
No kind of light or decorate.
The neighbors don’t know what to think,
One thought he was on the wrong block,
Another thought he had too much to drink.
Come and see what they done to my house,
Come at night, and you will see it bright.
Come by and see what they did for me,
They lit up my house, and they lit up my tree
My poor old dog don’t know how to act,
With a bow on his back.
Come by, if we are not in the yard,
And you are looking for us,
We will be in the house that is all lit up.
