We have lost a sweet soul...Hailey...affectionately known as "Red Bear" volunteered with us for a time...her arrangements will be posted soon. Saturday in Hopewell and Sunday evening here in BV.

Highlighting the goodness of people:

I have been reflecting on this past wednestay's pantry experiences today.

We have an older gentleman who is in his nineties and is having a little trouble negotiating taking his groceries in the house. While it is against policy for volunteers to ride home with pantry clients, for a few weeks we have had male volunteers following behind him and helping him get his groceries in the house. It has been done without anyone being asked.

Thank you Jesus for the tremendous group of people you have provided our pantry!

Every week we have a few volunteers that bring food to a few families in need on their own gas and time. Thank you for being selfless! Thank you for registering them in! 🤣🤣

Last one-It was getting pretty close to closing time when a lady called out from outside "Come help my sister has fallen!" She had caught the toe of her shoe on the small step up in front of the building. Immediately a group of mature men who were carpooling together stopped with they were doing and came out to lift the lady from her knees to a standing position. They didn't wear fancy clothes.They never asked for anything in return. They looked like the average Joe, a bit unkempt, like they had been working hard all day. They didn't care whether they would be sued, they didn't care whether someone would see their good deed, they just filled an urgent, immediate need. Whether they realized it or not, they were imitating the love of Christ, who comes when we call, quietly serving our every need, focusing on the urgency of the situation. Thank you Jesus!

Bridge to Hope Food Pantry, BV, VA at Rockbridge Community Church of The Nazarene will be closed today, February 19th. Many of our volunteers have to travel to us and the forcast is cold temp and more snow. We ask that they stay home warm and safe.
