Today at 12:12pm marked yet another ending to a chapter for us. Balto our house pup got his wings today and crossed the rainbow bridge.
Balto was a big snuggle bug (kind of) but most people were intimidated by his size and breed. Balto was an F3 61% Grey Wolf. He was definitely the alpha in our pack and he’s missed very much already.
Balto was right along side us when we started back in 2018, so it’s going to be strange not seeing him around here on a daily.
I know he’s already been running his butt off and just enjoying being pain free.
God was generous enough to have created this wonderful creature just for me in this life, Balto was sent to make an impact on my life and that’s just what he did.
Thank you for the almost 12 years of lessons and being patient with me as your human, I’m missing you Big Guy.
God thank you for hearing my prayers and bringing him home to be healed from all his ailments, no more pills, shots and eye drops.

We will meet again Balto, until we do you have fun with your Ruby girl, she’s been waiting on you.

This is K9 Mirk with the

Mirk is a 5-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd born in the Netherlands and has a Dutch passport in his name. He is trained in apprehension, narcotics detection, and single-scent tracking. A street-proven hide-and-seek champion, Mirk is deployed to locate and apprehend suspects wanted for serious offenses.

Mirk has made numerous narcotics finds in the field and has assisted both Patrol Officers and Detectives in locating hidden drugs inside vehicles and buildings. He is also the City of Brea’s first police K-9 trained in single-scent tracking. Through this skill, he has successfully helped locate a critically missing child who wandered away from their parents, as well as an elderly adult who left his residence.

After a long night of hard work, Mirk enjoys sleeping in his favorite place—his kennel in Officer Harris’ office—where he stretches out on his back, completely relaxed and without a care in the world.

Please help us raise the funds to provide K9 Mirk his very own ballistic vest to keep him safe while he’s protecting the City of Brea. This will give Officer Harris a piece of mind knowing his best friend and partner is safe while they’re serving their community.

We’ve definitely lost a pillar of strength and a beacon of light in this community.
was an amazing icon and partnered with Sergeant Ed Soares these two were amazing and did so, so very much not only on the job as law enforcement officers but away from that they were huge advocates for anti-bullying and were always there for those who needed help.
We all will miss K9 Duke but we all know he will live on forever through the legacy he has left.
We thank you Sergeant Soares for the small relationship we were able to have with you guys.

Yesterday at the city council meeting in Buena Park we were recognized for what we’ve done and what we will still do. Thank you for this wonderful recognition and we look forward to continuing our work with you far into the future.

It’s been a real rough 5-1/2 months with the loss of my wife (Teagan’s mom) so we really haven’t been active with K9 InVest as much as we’d like to be.

I took a call last week in the very late pm/early am from a friend who is very well known in the canine community and has built one of, if not the largest nonprofit organizations to benefit retired working dogs, we had a good conversation. He called to check on my well being after seeing one of my posts on FB (personal page). We talked about my loss of Nadine and how it’s effecting me. He shared some of his stories of loss and we talked about ways to honor those we’ve lost. With these 10,000 new ideas running through my head it’s time to get back to what we started in 2018.

Many thanks JJ, I’ll be reaching out soon.

Stay tuned to see what’s coming, and thank you all who have reached out to us in the past few months, we appreciate your heartfelt support.

Nadine Coral Hunt
03/28/1976 - 08/19/2024

Our hearts are broken, has lost a team member and it has hit us very hard.
Nadine was the mother of our founder Teagan and the wife of our cofounder Don.

Please be patient during this difficult transition for our family and we will be back to assisting teams in the near future.

You will be missed tremendously Nadine, until we meet again.

K9 InVest

K9 InVest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 2018 by Teagan Hunt, she felt that there was a need for more options for LE + Military + SAR K9 handlers to get the needed protective gear and equipment for the partners that their agency didn't budget for or just flat out didn't have funding for.

Teagan’s passion for all animals is unmatched by most her age, at only eleven years old she is slowly planning her future which is sure to have her working within the veterinary field. She hopes to have her organization be a nationally known and recognized nonprofit reaching into each state and many communities.

You can learn more about K9 InVest and the products we are now working with as well as many of the canines we've had the honor of working with. We’re always working hard to protect those who protect us, please help us continue to reach our mission by giving a one time donation or even a monthly donation can be set up on our website. You’ll also find a page there to purchase our custom K9 InVest patch made by LOF Defence Systems, you can choose your very own custom creations.
