The next important action in the pharmacist contract campaign is here. Join us on Monday, June 15th at 1PM to give Albertsons HQ a prescription for how their business practices affect pharmacy patients (their customers). Pharmacists will be delivering prescription pads with their customers' comments on them to corporate. Yesterday, the city of Anaheim postponed the hearing on the "Safe Stores are Staffed Stores" ordinance because the city and the grocers' association wanted a ratio of one dedicated employee for every four self-checkout machines. This ratio is unacceptable to UFCW. The largest contingent of workers and community supporters we've ever had at a city council meeting came out last night to support the ordinance and testify, even though it wasn't on the agenda. We will continue working with the City Council to ensure workers are kept safe and the ordinance follows other cities in the region with a minimum staffing ratio of at least one dedicated employee for every three self-checkout machines.
