The History of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors Association of Texas
In 1914, eleven plumbing contractors signed our charter in Fort Worth. Their primary purpose was to protect both plumbers and consumers, as well as to ensure safe and sanitary plumbing systems. The original corporation document stated that they formed “to acquire, preserve and disseminate valuable information and generally to promote the interests of the plumbing business by the elimination of trade abuses and the encouragement of a higher standard of business.”
Looking back, we are proud that APHCC Texas was very involved in the passage of the state plumbing license law, as well as the addition of the continuing education addition to the law in later years. Texas is the model for the rest of the country, with a strong law, continuing education, and enforcement.
Our lobbying effort today is greatly enhanced by our lobby team of Dan Shelley, Jennifer Rodriguez, and Marc Rodriguez. A former state senator and advisor to Governors Bush and Perry, Dan is astute in Texas politics, and he and his team keep PHCC Texas influential at the state capitol.
As we look forward, we know that great changes will take place and that our association will grow and prosper as young contractors replace those who leave us. PHCC Texas has always had a vision to strengthen and grow, all the way back to our forefathers in 1914. If you aren’t yet a member of PHCC Texas, we invite you to join and be part of our Legacy--always to protect the contractor, the consumer and to ensure safe and sanitary plumbing systems. Together we can!
