Today, two of our crews are honored to stand in and cover calls in Buda Fire/EMS' response districts so their members can attend the funeral of their fallen brother, Eric Spillar.

Eric’s courage, service, and fight are remembered well beyond his department. In the fire and EMS family, a loss like this is felt by all of us.

It’s our privilege to help ensure his brothers and sisters can be together today—remembering, honoring, and saying goodbye.

Rest easy, Eric. We’ve got it from here.

Winter Storm Warning is in effect for portions of South-Central Texas from Saturday morning through Sunday morning. An Arctic cold front arriving late Friday night will bring well-below-average temperatures, freezing rain, and sleet.

❄️ What to expect:

Freezing rain and sleet beginning Saturday morning

Ice accumulations of 1/10 to 1/4 inch, with isolated 1/4 to 1/2 inch possible in the Hill Country

Slick, hazardous roadways with impacts lingering as temperatures remain below freezing through the weekend

⚠️ Important Safety Reminders From Us:

Ice can bring down tree limbs and power lines, leading to power outages. If you or a loved one relies on medical equipment (oxygen, CPAP, ventilators), have a plan now—backup power, extra batteries, and emergency contacts.

Have a plan to stay warm if power is lost. Do NOT use gas or propane space heaters, grills, or ovens indoors due to carbon monoxide risk. Hays County emergency management may open warming centers for more information visit www.Haysinformed.com.

Avoid unnecessary travel. Icy conditions lead to a high number of motor vehicle crashes during winter events.

Limit going outside—ice increases the risk of slips and falls.

Bring pets indoors and protect sensitive plants.

Wrap exposed pipes and drip faucets as needed to prevent freezing.

Ensure you have essential medications, food, water, and supplies on hand before conditions worsen.

Stay safe and stay warm!

Today our association member and fellow employee, Robyn, took another brave step in her fight against breast cancer as she underwent surgery.

Thanks to your support, we were able to donate over $1,000, and we proudly stand by Robyn every step of the way. She is not fighting alone.

A huge thank you to Kyle Fire for showing their support alongside us; it truly means more than words.

From all of us here at the Hays County EMS Association, we are sending our love, prayers, and unwavering support to Robyn. We will always be by your side.
