These drivers rely on private insurance, which does not cover passengers in the event of an accident or serious injury, potentially leaving them responsible for substantial medical expenses while the driver faces no consequences.

Here is an example of a social media posting from an unlicensed operator. These operators pose a danger to the public. They are not licensed, meaning they do not conduct driver background checks, or have vehicle safety requirements. These illegal operators do not have the proper auto insurance to transport passengers. If there is an accident, you have little recourse. There is significant danger and risk to you and your family by hiring one of these drivers.

The Long Island Limousine Association encourages you to only hire licensed car, van, and limo operators. Ask the person or company you are hiring if they are licensed to legally transport passengers. If not, hang up the phone.
