Exciting momentum in Galion 🚂

Last month, Jessica Sattler with Regional Growth Partnership Northwest Ohio — a JobsOhio Network Partner — joined local leadership for a tour of the ongoing renovation at the historic Big Four Depot.

The transformation of the 10,455 sq. ft. facility will modernize both the first and second floors, positioning this long-standing symbol of civic pride as a driver of future economic expansion and development in Crawford County. The project was supported by an $800,000 JobsOhio Vibrant Communities Grant awarded in 2024.

Construction is on track for completion this spring — and we can’t wait to see this space activated for the next chapter of growth in Galion.

The deadline to apply for the 2026 Workforce Ready Internship Program is Friday, May 1. Applications will be reviewed on Monday, May 4, with decisions extended to the applicants by Friday, May 8.

Hearing this testimony from one of last year's recipients, Arrogant Goat Brewing Owner Mark Burke, is exactly why we created this program:

“It was really a big help to us. We don’t have a lot of staff, so having the opportunity to have the grant help pay for the intern’s time over the summer was really a big benefit to us.”

Interested employers should submit the following information via email: company name and address, internship timeline, hourly wage, position description, and any additional relevant details or requirements. Applications should be sent to Nancy Clutter at [email protected].

We appreciate The Community Foundation for Crawford County's continued collaboration on this project.

We were pleased to assist Mayor Truka and The City of Bucyrus in coordinating a visit with Congressman Bob Latta last month in Crawford County.

Congressman Latta’s visit began with a meeting at Avita Health System in Bucyrus. He then visited Imasen Bucyrus Technology (IB-Tech) in the Crossroads Industrial Park, where senior leadership provided a tour of the facility, shared an update on their expansion project, and discussed priorities with the president and vice president of IB-Tech.

The Congressman wrapped up his visit with a meeting with the administration at the City of Bucyrus to discuss ongoing projects and infrastructure.

Overall, it was a great day welcoming Congressman Latta to Crawford County. We appreciate his time and interest in our community and look forward to showcasing even more of Crawford County during future visits!

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is launching a new Youth Council, giving local high school students the opportunity to serve as grantmakers and make a real impact in our community.

Selected students will learn about the needs of youth in Crawford County, participate in hands-on volunteer experiences, and help decide how funding is awarded through the newly established Jeffrey Boyd Michael Fund for Youth Philanthropy.

This is a unique opportunity for students entering the sophomore, junior, or senior year to gain exposure to philanthropy, build leadership skills, and earn community service hours.

Applications are due April 30, and space is limited.
