Buckley Bicycle Co-Op is a partnership with Buckley Youth Activity Center & the White River School District. Program Objectives
- Provide free skills and job-readiness training to youth in a supportive community through hands-on bike mechanics, maintenance training and small business training by skilled mechanics.
- Provide an alternative form of transportation, increasing access of affordable, c
arefully refurbished bicycles for low-income youth and adults, particularly those who are employed or attend school and have a desire to utilize a bicycle as a primary source of transportation. This long-term and affordable solution to transportation problems opens doors, enriches lives, empowers people and expands opportunities.
- Provide youth leadership development through self-sufficiency, teamwork, problem solving, self-confidence and responsibility.
- Promote safe riding for through bike safety clinics and education events. Increase the utilization of safety equipment and increase knowledge of rules of the road and trails.
- Provide a recycling program that collects used bikes, parts, tools and accessories that will support program needs and encourage environmental stewardship.
- Provide community service opportunities, including repairing and refurbishing bikes to give to children from low-income families.
- Allow youth to establish strong, positive relationships with caring adults in a safe, supportive and respectful environment.
** Open most Saturdays from 9:30 to noon April through October. Open 2nd Saturdays only November through March.
