Appalachian Impact's fifth annual gala lands Oct. 17 at The Opera House, with hors d'oeuvres from CJ Maggie's, a DJ and silent auctions. Tickets are $50, or $90 a couple, and sales are about halfway to capacity.

September’s winner was nominated by a community member who wishes to remain anonymous!

Joni Roby was selected for September’s Rooted in Hope Award!

We first met Joni when she contacted us last school year about a field trip to The Adventure Center. The way she spoke of her students as her own children made a big impression on us! Months later, she was nominated by a community member for this month’s award!

Her nomination states, “On numerous occasions, she has purchased coloring and learning activities for students out of her own pocket and is happy to do so. She makes the children in her care feel as if they truly matter in a system that simply views them as a number of test score. She is definitely an asset to Upshur County schools!”

We’ll have a gift card AND a basket of school supplies for Joni this month 💛
