An IMPORTANT update on the torrential rain and flooding in Arequipa from our President Tim Daviscourt:
Dear Friends and Faithful Supporters,
We are writing to share an urgent update regarding our ministry in Arequipa.
On Thursday night, torrential rains struck the city, causing severe flooding and mudslides across multiple neighborhoods — including the area where our home is located. (Please see attached photos.)
In Roads have been washed out, entire sections of the city are impassable, and many families are assessing significant damage.
By God’s grace, our girls were away on their annual beach trip when the storm hit, so they were safe during the worst of it. Additionally, because our home sits on higher ground, the structure itself was not damaged. However, all roads leading to the home are currently inaccessible due to flooding and mudslides. The girls are scheduled to return today, but at this time there is no safe or passable route.
Our team in Peru is working urgently to identify alternative ways to bring them home safely. We are told that some roads may remain unusable for several weeks.
Members of our board are preparing to travel to Peru in the coming weeks to assist both the home and the surrounding community as recovery efforts begin. At this time, we do not yet know the full scope of need, as the situation is still unfolding.
• We ask you first and foremost to partner with us in prayer:
• For the safe return of the girls and our team.
• For protection over every member of our ministry.
• That when families are able to return home, they will find their houses safe and intact.
• For wisdom as we navigate next steps in the recovery process.
If you feel led to support us financially during this time, we would be deeply grateful. Donations can easily be made here ➡️ rhintl.org/donate.
Donations will help offset unexpected costs related to transportation, emergency needs, and recovery efforts — not only for our home, but also for our team members in Peru and the local families we serve in Arequipa who have been affected by this flooding.
We will continue to provide updates as we learn more through our page. Thank you for standing with us in prayer, generosity, and faith during this challenging moment.
With gratitude and hope,
Tim Daviscourt
