🎭 MEET THE CAST: BOB VAN DEN AKKER 🎭

You may know Bob van den Akker as one of the many people who helps keep CAPA moving behind the scenes—or as a teacher, director, board secretary, and all-around CAPA team player. But in Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch, Bob is stepping into the spotlight as Colonel Crabtree! 🤠

Bob has been part of CAPA for 3½ years, serving in a variety of roles including teaching speech, directing, supporting CAPA operations, and serving as board secretary.

What does he love most about theatre? Team camaraderie. There’s something special about creating something together, and this production has given Bob the chance to experience theatre from a new perspective—on stage! 🎭

His favorite thing about Colonel Crabtree? Those over-the-top expressions. 😂

And one of his favorite rehearsal moments involves listening to Widow Black and all of her… melodrama. 👀😂

If you’ve met Widow Black, you know exactly what he means.

Three words to describe Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch?

🤠 Fun.
❤️ Family.
🌵 Western.

Come meet Colonel Crabtree and the rest of the cast!

🎭 MEET THE CAST: THEODORE WEBBE 🎭

Meet Theodore Webbe! A CAPA original member of 3+ years, Theodore has been part of the CAPA community as both an actor and a theatre & film camp teacher—and now he’s taking the stage in Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch as Bill Filbert! 🤠🎸

What does Theodore love most about theatre? Being able to tell a story. And his character, Bill, has a story of his own: he’s chasing his dream of being part of the stage—with his guitar by his side. 🎶

Theodore has especially enjoyed getting to play guitar and perfect his western accent for the show. And, like any good theatre production, there have been plenty of moments when things didn’t go exactly as planned… but those are often the moments that turn into the best memories. 😂

His favorite part? When the cast messes up and everyone ends up laughing about it together.

Three words to describe Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch?

😂 Funny.
❤️ Sweet.
🤠 Crazy.

We think that sounds like a pretty good description of a night at the theatre!

Come meet Bill Filbert and the rest of the cast of Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch!

🎭 MEET THE CAST: DAVID SCOTT 🎭

You may know David Scott as CAPA’s official volunteer emcee 🎤—but in Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch, he’s stepping into the boots of Barney, a big-hearted, lovable goofball. 🤠

David has been part of CAPA for three years, and what he loves most about theatre is the lived experience of it all. As he puts it, live performances with real people in the room will always make you laugh harder, cry quicker, and feel more deeply. ❤️

One of his favorite parts of rehearsals? Giving his “wicked, foreign stepmother” a hard time. 😂 We have a feeling there’s a story there…

But what David has enjoyed most about being part of Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch is getting to work alongside his kids and watch them use their God-given giftings. ❤️

And if you need three words to describe this show, David has nailed it:

🤠 Cowboys.
🔫 Crime.
😂 Comedy.

Come meet Barney and the rest of the cast when Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch rides into town!

🎭 MEET THE CAST: SHAMIRA VAN DEN AKKER 🎭

You may know her as the CEO of CAPA… but in Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch, Shamira van den Akker steps into a very different role: Widow Black! 🖤

Shamira has been part of CAPA since its very beginning and has had a front-row seat to watching this community grow. As CEO, she’s involved in just about every corner of CAPA—from productions and behind-the-scenes work to supporting our students and families.

But when it comes to theatre, Shamira says she especially loves the creativity, teamwork, and watching young people discover their confidence and talents. ❤️

And her favorite thing about Widow Black?
“I absolutely love playing a villain!” 😈

She also admits one of her favorite rehearsal moments has been not knowing her lines but still acting them out. 😂 We’ve all been there!

But perhaps the sweetest part of this production? Shamira has loved being on stage with her husband, Bob. ❤️

Three words to describe Blazing Gulch?
🤠 Wild.
🎭 Entertaining.
⭐ Memorable.

🎭 MEET THE TEAM/CAST: LAURALAI SCOTT! 🎭

Meet Lauralai Scott, who plays the unforgettable Flora in Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch! 🤠—and serves as our Stage Manager! 🎬

Lauralai has been part of the CAPA family since Spring 2024, participating in homeschool classes, community theatre, and CAPA’s production team. Over the past few years, she’s had the opportunity to step into characters with personalities very different from her own—from a low-class Brit to a naïve girl from New York—and now the flirtatious and ditzy Flora!

Lauralai loves theatre because of the opportunity to experience so many different kinds of characters. Each role challenges her to figure out how to portray different people in different circumstances, giving her a greater appreciation for the diversity of roles in theatre.

Flora has been a particularly fun challenge. It’s a character unlike anyone Lauralai has played before, and she says playing her has been both a challenge and a blessing. We have a feeling audiences are going to remember Flora! 😂

But Lauralai isn’t only learning from the stage. As Stage Manager, she’s discovered that every role in a production has a creative side. Actors have creative liberty, but directors and stage managers also use their ideas to help make the show better.

And speaking of her Stage Manager duties… there was a certain recurring issue with the stage guns. 🔫😂

The guns may be toys, but when Luciano repeatedly dropped one and caused it to break, the cast heard a familiar reminder:

“Stop playing with the toys!”

One of Lauralai’s favorite things about this production has been watching the cast’s chemistry grow. She says the people in this show are not only phenomenal actors, but also kind and loving people—and that getting to watch and be part of their chemistry has been a true blessing.

And if she had to describe Blazing Guns! in three words?

🤠 Comedic
😂 Ridiculous
🔫 Deadly

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

Come see what happens when this incredible cast brings the wild, ridiculous world of Blazing Guns! to life!

🎭 MEET THE TEAM: AIDEN! 🎭

Meet Aiden, one of the student co-directors behind Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch! 🤠

Aiden has been part of the CAPA family for almost three years, and this production has given him the opportunity to grow in a whole new way—as a director!

One of the biggest things Aiden has learned through directing is that every person is different and has different needs. Learning how to recognize those differences and accommodate them has helped him grow not only as a director, but as a leader.

One of his favorite parts of the rehearsal process has been watching the cast work through blocking together and seeing each actor bring their own unique personality to their character. He says getting to watch everyone grow throughout the production has been one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.

And why should YOU come see Blazing Guns!?

According to Aiden, if you’re looking for a good laugh, something fun and lighthearted, with just a little intensity, this show is for you! 😂🤠 And with all the twists and turns, you never know what’s going to happen next!

We’re so proud of Aiden and the leadership he has brought to this production. Come see what he and the rest of this talented student production team have created!
