Congratulations to Buckeye Lake 2036 on 10 years!
✨ 10 Years Ago Today: The Turning Point for Buckeye Lake ✨
Today marks a decade since the signing of the Buckeye Lake Region 2036 Declaration.
In 2016, our community was in the middle of a dam crisis, filled with "agitated, angry, and distrustful" voices. But out of that darkness, 300 neighbors gathered at Lakewood High School to choose a different path: Collaboration over conflict.
That meeting led to the formation of the Buckeye Lake Region Corporation (BLRC). Since then, we’ve raised over $15M in private and public funds to revitalize our home.
🏆 10 Years of Impact
From water quality to infrastructure, here’s a look at what we’ve achieved together:
• Major Park Upgrades: Secured $11M to reimagine North Shore Park.
• Clean Water Initiatives: Funded the Watershed Coordinator and "Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow" projects.
• Community Icons: Became the lead contributor to the "Queen of the Lake" renovation and now host the BLASST fireworks!
• Regional Unity: For the first time, leaders from 3 counties and multiple villages meet weekly to work as ONE region.
• Infrastructure: Secured grants for the Millersport Canal, Crystal Lake feasibility, and the Thorn Twp paddle boat launch.
🙏 Thank You
To our donors, volunteers, and local businesses—you are the engine behind this progress. We were born of crisis, but we are maturing through a time of unprecedented growth.
Here’s to the next 10 years of a better, brighter Buckeye Lake! 🥂💦
