Hello everyone! It’s been a while. I had a huge lack of motivation during the past year of COVID & recently moved. I am currently taking a hiatus from OMAAT to figure out how I would like to move forward with it. I appreciate all of your support.❤️

What places/individuals are in need of Period Care Packages? I can put something together or make a more custome package. I have pads, tampons, liners, cups, discs, reusable pads, wash rags, soaps, wipes, tea, chocolates.. I think that’s it. 😂

CANCELED! Due to the fact of me (Megan Goodrich) moving at the end of the month, I have made the decision to not go forward with the One Month at a Time Art Auction. While this will be an exciting event I will have to wait until a more suitable time to host it. Thank you to everyone who took an interest in the Art Auction. Your support does not go unnoticed.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!

Saturday December 12th I will be hosting an art auction as a fundraiser for One Month at a Time.

Why: I believe that one of the ways we can help people feel comfortable in their bodies and understand them better is by not being silent about them. Whether it be stigma surrounding menstruation or women’s bodies in general.

When: Saturday December 12th (time tbd)

Where: Buchanan Art Center, Buchanan MI

How will this work: One Month at a Time will host a silent auction on Saturday December 12th at the Buchanan Art Center in Buchanan Michigan. We will operate within Michigan’s covid19 guidelines and will move to a virtual event if needed. While this serves as a fundraiser for the program the artists will receive a percentage of the earnings.

Rules for submission:

- Ages 8+ may submit
- Art must refer to either Menstruation, Endometriosis, PCOS, Ovarian Cysts, Ovarian Cancer, or Cervical Cancer. *LGBTQ friendly and inclusive* If you wish to submit something outside of these options please PM and we can discuss it’s relevance to the auction and program.

- Art may be crafted with any medium (including menstrual blood but it is not necessary).

- The artist will need to list medisums used and offer a description of the piece itself.

- Each artist may include a brief bio of themself (name, where they are located, Art they make, etc.).

- For now each artist may submit two pieces of art but as time approaches if spots are still available we can discuss submitting more.

- Art must be submitted and in my hand by Thursday December 10th.

- Currently 20 slots available

Please reach out with any questions 😊

* I will make an official event page this weekend. This is just to market to any artists who want to submit or anyone who would like to assist in planning and or volunteer to work the event. *

* Private message me if you want to submit art or be involved. *

This morning I am out at the Buchanan Farmers Market for One Month at a Time. Somehow in the midst of all of my organizing I misplaced my usual vendor papers and such so I had to write some up real fast.

Come visit me today and the rest of the vendors! We will be here until 1:00 pm.

Yesterday a supporter tagged me in the Readers Digest article on Buchanan being the nicest place in America as One Month at a Time was briefly featured at the end of it. I can’t find the original post but thank you to Jen for sharing it to me! ❤️

I know I have been very quiet on here the past few months, I am hoping to change that here soon. Thank you to all of my OMAAT supporters! 😊

In 2020, we received a record number 1,177 story submissions to our annual search for the Nicest Places in America as people struggled against a deadly pandemic and racial injustice. This year's winning place shows that when Americans unite, we can overcome anything.

One Month at A Time

One Month at A Time is a program I started that collects and distributes menstrual products. Often times pantries, shelters, schools and other safe places are lacking these products. To counter this, my program focuses on this direct need.

We also aim to provide various forms of health education. On June 22nd of 2019, we held our first event where attendees could fill a bag of products and had a chance to listen to some guest speakers. Our speakers were Dr. Audrey Carrier, a local Family Physician and Madeline Higgins, who is a fellow Buchanan graduate with a degree in Public Health from University of Michigan. Dr. Carrier spoke on different female anatomy health concerns such as Breast, Cervical and Ovarian cancers, along with PCOS and Endometriosis while Madeline spoke on period poverty and alternative menstrual products. Everyone in attendance left with a little more understanding of their body and products that are available to them.

Unfortunately, there is a huge stigma around menstruation and the female anatomy in general. The stigma comes from historical, religious, and cultural contexts and is often that periods are “gross” and “should not be talked about.” Breaking down this stigma is one of the most effective ways that we can get more people to learn about, and take initiative over, their own bodies and also educate others on the need for cost effective menstrual products and free health education.
