Our wagon trains would not take place if it wasn’t for our wonderful board members that do so much to keep this tradition going. Big thank you to our chief scout Ben McNabb and his crew Mary McNabb and Tinker Moffitt for keeping us safe on our rides. Wagon master Mark Hoyle for keeping everything moving smoothly. Behind the scenes we had board members that found the rides, brought in ads, put up our tent, had awards made, helped with the auction and board dinner, ordered dumpsters, ordered hats, coozies, shirts, making sure every single day was great.

A big thank you to our LEAD public relations director Gary Hoyle. We couldnt have put a better person in the position. He goes out of his way to help the wagon train and we want him to know how special he is to us.

Also, Missy Hoyle. She put our book together this year. She collected ads and between her and Gary they found the field, got the potties, got us a water supply, lined up our parade, and Gary even had time to buy my favorite flavored moon pies!! They are a huge asset to this wagon train and we want them both to know how much they mean to us!

WNC WAGON TRAIN wrapped up our 69th wagon train last week. We had a great time. We would like to say a HUGE thank you to BRYSON CITY, NC for inviting us to your town. Everyone was so accommodating and kind and we couldn’t have asked for better folks. Thank you to the deputies that took part in helping keep us safe while on our routes. Thank you to all the businesses that welcomed us and helped any way they could. THANK YOU to Darnell Farms for all the kindness you all showed us. I think the wagon train participants made a habit of visiting you guys every day or some of us twice a day for a dream whip to cool us off. Darnell Farms was also our water supply. Thank you Randall Watkins for allowing us to make your field our home for the week. From land owners providing us a camp, to the folks stopping by just to visit and see if we needed anything…we appreciate the generosity.

We will be gearing up for our 2027 rides which will be our big 7-0!!!! If your town would like to invite us to come visit this spring or summer….have them get in touch with our President Wayne Dutton 770-480-0007, our Vice President Tim Cochran 828-371-1231, or if you know any of our board members personally, reach out to them. We will be announcing our next years’ schedule in a few months when we get things lined up.
