The world says baptism is just a symbol — a nice ceremony, a name and some water. But Jesus said it is birth by water and the Spirit. "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." In that water, God claims a soul, washes it, and makes it His own: received for His own child, made a member of Christ. Not a symbol of grace, but the means of it. This is the faith proclaimed in Word and Sacrament every Sunday.

The world tells a young man that to lead is to be served. Scripture tells him the opposite. To be a husband and father is to shepherd your home — the first to kneel and the last to be served, laying your life down as Christ laid down His for the Church. This is not weakness. It is the highest calling a man is given, and it is proclaimed and strengthened in Word and Sacrament every Lord's Day.
