The CERT program also has an applicability to college campus' through the Campus CERT program which was created by FEMA for college campus' across the nation. Texas A&M Campus Community Emergency Response Team is a program available to any in the Bryan / College Station area who attend Texas A&M University.

The CERT Brazos Valley conducted a CERT Crowd and Traffic Management Course on 6 November at the BVCOG. The course was attended by CERT team members from around the Brazos Valley region. The course instructed CERT methods on how to maintain traffic and crowd control techniques when supporting first responder agencies on larger incidents. The CERT Brazos Valley program would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Bryan Carlisle, Director of Safety and Risk Management of Blinn College for instructing the course.

There is a seat at the CERT table for anyone with the motivation to serve their community. Support positions are available on teams to assist in team disaster response operations. Some of the support roles can include team treasurer, scribe/report writer, team liaison, and others. CERTs in the Brazos Valley region are always available to discuss a possible future role on their team. Are you interested in joining a team and supporting CERT operations?

ATTENTION CERT members in the Brazos Valley Region: The Harris County CERT program has now released their annual logo for the FY2025 CERT Rodeo. The CERT Rodeo is an annual event where local CERTs in the Harris County region compete against each other based on CERT functions such as light Search and Rescue, emergency medical procedures, basic fire extinguisher operation and more. The Brazos Valley Council of Government will be sending a Liaison to this event to better understand how to implement a similar program in the Brazos Valley. Are you interested in learning how to better prepare you and your family for a large disaster? CERT gives you the necessary training for natural disaster preparedness. There will be a CERT Basic Course being conducted in the Brazos Valley region in late January - early February (Dates TBD).
