MESARD Congratulates team Kenny G for passing the IPWDA Water recovery test. This isn't an easy disapline. It takes hard work from a dedicated handler and a dog that loves the job.

MESARD/IPWDA Seminar Sept. 17-20th, Topsham, Maine. Teams came in from all over New England to certify and train in all things K9 SAR. Airscent, Trailing, HR and Water recovery. This couldn't have happened without Master Trainers, Instructors and the MESARD crew who made the long weekend run smoothly. Thank you to Topsham Fire & Rescue, Brunswick Auto Recycling, Town of Brunswick (Captain Fitzgerald Recreation and Conservation area) and Topsham Fairgrounds. We'll add more pictures as we get them.
Search safe and trust your dog!

A HUGE thank you to Central Maine Power for their incredible generosity in allowing Maine Search and Rescue Dogs (MESARD) handlers and K9s to utilize a house scheduled for demolition for a day of specialized training!
This was an outstanding training opportunity for our handlers and search and rescue K9s. Having access to a real structure allowed the teams to work through realistic scenarios, practice searching in a challenging environment, and continue building the skills needed when responding to real-world incidents.
Opportunities like this are invaluable to our teams and help ensure that our K9s and handlers are prepared when called upon to help find someone in need.
We truly appreciate Central Maine Power for supporting our mission and helping us provide this important training. Your generosity makes a difference!
🐾🚒 Thank you, CMP, for helping our teams train to be ready!

Shout out to Miss Tilly for passing her annual Trailing certification. Teams are required to maintain an annual average of 16 training hrs a month, attend a minimum of 9 monthly trainings and participate in 10% of searches MESARD is called to. We don't compromise our standards and missing people deserve nothing less.

Neighboring New Hampshire sometimes bills people for the cost.

With a week of high heat and high humidity. We took to training at night. Air temperature 70 but the humidity was 98%. Tracking is a challenge discipline in perfect conditions but for a dog, heat and humidity are kryptonite. We added a complex element to the problem but shorten the duration. Miss Tilly had to navigate lots of contamination to solve her problem.
