Today, the ladies of the Eta Upsilon Sigma chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. honor Juneteenth, a day of freedom, resilience, and hope. On June 19, 1865, news of emancipation finally reached enslaved African Americans in Texas—more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of the enduring pursuit of justice, equality, and opportunity for all.

Like our founders, as women dedicated to Greater Service, Greater Progress, we celebrate the strength, achievements, and contributions of African Americans throughout history and recommit ourselves to uplifting our communities through education, advocacy, and service.

May we continue to learn from the past, embrace the present, and work together toward a future where freedom and equity are fully realized for every generation.

Today the ladies of the Eta Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. used their voices and exercised their right to vote! Local elections are important and as Greater Women who believe in Greater Service, Greater Progress we did our part and participated in the process!

On Saturday the ladies of Eta Upsilon Sigma chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. hosted our annual water safety event, Swim 1922. We had swim instructors from Georgia Swim School and the founders of Connor Smiles, Carla Mathis and her husband. The brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity helped with supervision and lunch. HUGE Thank you to the Golden Isles YMCA for allowing us to use your facility today. If we can prevent just one drowning, we have done so much! Until next year!

Today IS the big day! Swim 1922, a community event just for YOU! Be prepared to have fun, see you at 1!

Tomorrow is the big day! We have a great community event planned! SWIM 1922 IS HERE! We are excited to have you join us along with the Connor Smiles Foundation and Georgia Swim School. We will be using the indoor swimming pool. Parents, when you enter the YMCA, you will need to stop at the table, scan the QR Code and complete the liability waiver BEFORE your child can enter the pool area. Parents can then proceed to the outside pavilion to hear a presentation from Connor Smiles. Lunch will be served at 3 under the pavilion. Families can stay and enjoy the outside play area as long as they would like! See you all tomorrow!
