Live Webinar on Death Doulas by National FCA

What does a death doula do, who needs a death doula, why are they important, where do you find one, when do you need one, and how much do they cost?

Jane K. Callahan, a death doula and author of “A Death Doula’s Guide to a Meaningful End,” breaks down everything you need to know about this growing profession in our one-hour webinar.

Please note that this webinar will not be recorded, so plan to join us live!

As part of our Bangor visit, the FCA Maine will kick off the weekend with a Death Café at Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness, 16 Central St., tonight from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

Facilitated by an FCA Maine board member, the Death Café has no specific agenda, objective, or theme. It’s simply an open forum, meant to raise awareness about the topic of death and help normalize discussions about the end of life.

Here are just some of the topics that have come up in past Death Cafe conversations: end-of-life planning, death with dignity, what to do with all the stuff, the role of a Death Doula, after-loss logistics (while grieving), body disposition and green burials, legacy planning, advance directives, death rituals, death-readiness and solo aging, fear of dying, near death experiences, medical aid in dying (MAiD), books, TED Talks, documentaries about the end-of-life experience, coping with grief, and facing our mortality with curiosity and grace.

Our table prompted some really good questions and conversation about making after-death arrangements that are dignified, meaningful, and affordable.

We're in Bangor, ME, on Nov. 7 & 8 with three more special events: A Death Cafe, our annual meeting, and a guided tour of Mt. Hope Cemetery. These events are free and open to the public. Learn more: https://www.facebook.com/events/843213321404722
