This meeting is an opportunity to present and collect input on the draft Tactical Basin Plan for the Upper Connecticut River Watershed, which covers the majority of Essex County. This Basin plan prioritizes restoration, monitoring, and conservation in the watershed. The plan guides decisions for everything from ECNRCD's grant applications for restoration projects to state monitoring of water bodies to identify exemplary natural communities. This is an opportunity to make sure that local priorities are reflected in the plan

Request for proposals - Organizational Consultant

The Northeast Kingdom Conservation District Supervisory Union (NEK Supervisory Union) is seeking proposals from qualified organizations to assist the Union in developing and adopting administrative support capabilities that will provide mutual benefit to each district by, at a minimum: increasing communication across the districts; streamlining workflows; minimizing redundancies; and reducing overhead costs. The final product should define the purpose, structure, and operation of the NEK Supervisory Union to best serve its member Districts. The support structure chart provided below depicts how the Supervisory Unions and Conservation Districts fit into the overall Natural Resource Conservation Council (NRCC) structure. This structure consists of a total of six Supervisory Unions made up of the fourteen independent Conservation Districts. These Districts provide support to farmers, forest landowners, municipalities, and community partners in identifying and addressing natural resource concerns, i.e., issues that impair the sustainability or intended use of a resource, by organizing the implementation of locally led solutions. This support structure operates across the entire State of Vermont. This request for proposal focuses only on the NEK Supervisory Union.

It's almost tree sale time! Join Orleans County Conservation District Vermont, Caledonia County Natural Resources Conservation District, and ECNRCD at the NEK NRCD Conservation Fair next Saturday, May 2 at the Barton Fairgrounds.

Come pick up your plant sale pre-orders! We also have lots of local farm and food vendors, a limited selection of native perennials and trees for day-of sale, and great educational workshops and booths for the whole family.

Harvesting willow stakes yesterday with Ted Sedell of Orleans County Conservation District Vermont.

Join OCNRCD this Sunday, April 19 to install these native willows along the Barton River in Glover (details on their page!) or come learn how to make and use willow cuttings with Ted and I on Saturday, May 2 at the NEK NRCD annual plant sale.
