The District Attorney’s Office was proud to participate in the annual Pike County Law Enforcement Dinner last night. District Attorney Tarbox presented awards to numerous officers, deputies, and fire personnel, with the plaques being paid for out of monies seized from drug dealers in our circuit.

When storms are forecast, have a plan before they arrive.
1. Make a plan: know where you and your family will go before the storm arrives, and call your local Emergency Management Agency for local shelter information.

2. Do not rely on Outdoor sirens if you are more than 1 mile away from the closest siren and inside your home.

3. Keep sturdy shoes and boots near your emergency go-kit. (What to put in your go-kit can be found https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1LmNGgBa9K/)

4. Turn up the volume on your NOAA weather radio, keep some extra batteries near, charge your cell phone, and turn off "Do Not Disturb." Follow the National Weather Service and your local weather authority for the most up-to-date information about approaching storms.

Create a home fire plan by drawing a floor plan marking two exits per room (doors/windows), establishing an outside meeting spot (e.g., neighbor's mailbox), and testing smoke alarms monthly. Practice escaping—getting low under smoke and closing doors—at least twice a year. Get out, stay out, and call 911.

Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally begins this week, with peak activity in Panama City Beach scheduled from April 29 through May 3, 2026. Expect significantly increased motorcycle traffic through our area during this time.

Safety Reminders for All Drivers:

Look Twice, Save a Life: Check blind spots and mirrors twice, especially at intersections.

Give Space: Motorcycles can stop faster than cars; maintain extra following distance.

Planting season is in full swing. That means farm equipment is on the road.⚠️

Drivers should ⬇️

- Slow down when they see a piece of farm machinery.
- Watch for slow-moving vehicle signs — orange triangles required for vehicles that travel less than 25 mph.
- Look for electronic or hand turn signals. The size of farm equipment often dictates wide turns.
- Pass farm equipment cautiously.
- Keep all tires on the road.
- Watch for flashing amber lights or reflective tape, which can mark sides of the equipment.

Remember — farmers have a right to the road.❤️🚜

Now that spring is here, watch for motorcycles! 🏍️ More riders on the road means more reasons to stay alert.

Riders — always follow the rules of the road.
