Someone recently ask what the Friends of Bruce Area Library does so I wrote this up in answer to that question. I will have a more completely summary added to our Facebook Profile. For now this is information about us. The Friends of Bruce Area Library support the Bruce Area Library by purchasing needed items for which the library may not have funds in our general budget. Programs the Friends organize and donate funds to the Christmas in Bruce event in the Bruce Library. We purchase the prizes that are given to the children, we also have Santa at this event. We donate funds to the Summer Reading Program that take place every summer. We have purchase items for the Lego’s that are available for children to come in with their guardians or other adult. Children and Families are encourage to make a creation and put them up on display at the Bruce Area Library. We give Easter Baskets to Pre-K children at Bruce Schools. We have donated to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which the Bruce Schools have started supporting. Friends of Bruce Area Library run the Book Shop in the Corner, located in the southeast corner of the Village Hall. We had the book shelf in the library that we use for additional used books are sold to support the library. There in a member of the Friends in the Book Shop on Tuesday but you are welcome to come browse anytime the Bruce Area Library is open. We donate to the Little Library Boxes that are up around Bruce. The last several years we have had Raffles to raise money for our programs as well as Gift Basket Raffles. The Friends of Bruce Area Library will always welcome new members.
