🍔 Two Valley restaurants just earned global recognition for world-class burgers.

Congratulations to Le Rêve in Brownsville and sstash in Mission for being recognized among the best burger destinations in the world by World’s 101 Best Burger Places.

For two RGV restaurants to make the list is a powerful reminder that this region has been building a food culture rooted in creativity – paradoxically also in tradition –, craft, discipline, and local pride.

The list goes far beyond naming a “good burger”; it looks at the full experience, from product quality and consistency to patty, bun, fries, service, cleanliness, atmosphere, hospitality, and the overall integrity of the concept.

Congratulations to both teams on this incredible achievement. The RGV is officially part of the global burger conversation. ÂĄPuro 956!

“I truly believe Brownsville has the talent, the stories, and the potential and sometimes people just need the right space to step into it.” —Mónica Rivers, CEO & Founder of Studio X - Video Production & Branding Agency

From podcast recordings like “Brownsville The Podcast” hosted by CEO & Founder Mónica Rivers and Alonzo De La Torre, PR & MCO for Studio X, to full video production, Studio X is where conversations are captured, stories are shared, and content is created with purpose. It’s a space designed not just for creating, but for showing up and being heard.

Before we close out our feature with Studio X, we asked MĂłnica what she loves about being located in Brownsville:

“This city gave me opportunities I never imagined, it gave me the space to build, to grow, and to become the entrepreneur and leader I am today. I’ve built my businesses here and I’ve raised my son here. And along the way, I’ve received support, trust, and a community that allowed me to keep evolving. That’s why Studio X means more to me than just a business. It’s my way of giving back of creating a space where others in this city can feel seen, supported, and empowered to share their voice and build something of their own.”

A space where creators can step in and bring their ideas to life 🎬 Welcome to Studio X - Video Production & Branding Agency 🎙️

From professional podcast setups to full-scale video production, Studio X is a place that has everything you need to start making content for your brand. To learn more about this Downtown Brownsville spot, we asked CEO & Founder MĂłnica Rivers about the inspiration behind Studio X:

Q: What inspired you to open Studio X?
A: After nearly three decades as an entrepreneur, I’ve experienced the highs, the setbacks, the pressure, and the constant need to evolve. And one thing became very clear to me over the years. A lot of people have something valuable to say.... but they struggle to express it in a way that truly connects. I’ve been there and I know what it feels like to build something meaningful and still feel unseen or unheard at times.
And through my work in leadership over the past 11 years, I’ve also learned that people don’t just need tools, they need guidance, clarity, and a space where they feel supported. I created Studio X from that place.

Q: What makes Studio X unique?
A: What makes Studio X unique is that we combine production, branding, and mentorship in one place. We don’t just focus on how things look, we focus on how people show up. Our clients are not treated like transactions. They’re part of a space where their ideas are taken seriously, where they’re guided, and where they’re challenged to communicate at a higher level. With my background as an entrepreneur and over a decade in leadership development, I bring an optional layer of coaching and perspective that normally studios don’t offer. That’s what allows us to go beyond content and help people build confidence, clarity, and real presence in their message.

At the center of 3 Marías is Liz Morales Cano—the woman helping carry forward the traditions behind the restaurant. Her journey into the restaurant world grew out of family, culture, and a love for authentic Mexican cooking.

Behind the restaurant is a story that stretches back decades. The first 3 Marías opened in Ciudad Victoria in 1994, bringing with it a deep connection to traditional Mexican cooking and family recipes. Years later, Liz’s mother brought the restaurant across the border, opening the Brownsville location and introducing the community to the handmade quesadillas and authentic dishes that have since become a local favorite.

Liz joined the restaurant not long after and has spent the years since helping guide it forward while staying true to the traditions it was built on. For her, running a restaurant isn’t just about serving food—it’s about preserving recipes, honoring culture, and creating a place where people feel welcomed the moment they walk through the door. From the dishes coming out of the kitchen to the relationships she’s built with customers over the years, her dedication has helped turn the restaurant into a place where tradition and community come together.

Meet Felipe Peña III, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Brownsville! ☀️🎨

As director, Felipe oversees the museum’s growth, partnerships, and programming—helping ensure it remains a space where families feel welcome and kids feel free to explore. His work is centered on keeping the museum relevant, accessible, and rooted in the community it serves 🏘️

For Felipe, the Children’s Museum is more than a place to spend an afternoon. It’s a space where children build confidence in learning, creativity, and problem-solving through hands-on experiences. With more than 70,000 visitors each year, the museum has become a steady part of family life in the Rio Grande Valley—a place where curiosity is encouraged and discovery feels natural 🔎

To learn more about the Children’s Museum’s newest exhibit, “Adventures in the Sky: Amelia’s Journey” ✈️ we asked Felipe:

Q: What was the goal behind curating this exhibit for the Children’s Museum?
A: The goal in curating “Adventures in the Sky: Amelia’s Journey” is to connect children to Brownsville’s real aviation history while helping them build confidence through play. We design the exhibit to invite kids to climb, imagine, and challenge themselves, mirroring the courage and determination Amelia Earhart represents. Through hands-on exploration, children discover the science of flight at their level, practice bravery and persistence as they move through the space, see local history as something they are part of, and develop early STEM curiosity through active, imaginative play.

That vision is exactly what families will feel the moment they step inside. Plan your visit to the Children’s Museum of Brownsville and let the kids experience all of the adventure waiting for them at “Adventures in the Sky: Amelia’s Journey”! ✈️✨
