The Episcopal Day School is fully accredited by the Southwest Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES) and the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC,) a division of the Texas Education Agency. Our school has one class of two year olds and two classes each of three, four, and five year olds and first through sixth grade students. Our Pre-kindergarten program is a half-day program with classes beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 11:45 for two and three and four-year-olds and 12:00 noon for four and five-year-olds in the half day programs. Early morning Day Care is available from 7:00 – 7:50 a.m. and afternoon Day Care is available at 12:00 noon and ends at 5:30 p.m. The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. for all 2K thru 6th and dismissal time for 5K (full day) thru 6th graders is 3:25 p.m. In addition to the four core academic subjects of English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science, EDS students have Computer, Music, and Physical Education classes. We provide environmental education through our Nature Trail classes for 3K-6th grade every Friday on a rotating basis. First through sixth graders also have Beginning, Intermediate, or Advanced Spanish classes two days each week. EDS students also participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. We have a strong chess program and many of our students and parents are active in Boy and Girl Scouts. Our students also compete in the Brownsville Association of Non-Public Schools Administrators (BANSA) Basketball and Track athletic competitions. EDS promotes a philosophy of providing students the opportunity to experience a well-rounded schedule of academic and extra-curricular activities.
