🌟 Rotary Club of Rancho Viejo – Fellowship in Action! 🌟

June is Rotary’s Month of Fellowship, and our meeting was a perfect reminder that the relationships we build are what make Rotary so special.

As an interactive icebreaker, members participated in a “Web of Friendship” activity, passing strands of yarn across the room to create a connected web. The visual representation reminded us that every Rotarian is connected through friendship, service, and a shared commitment to making a difference. Each connection strengthens our club and our community.

We were honored to welcome Mayor Todd Day as our keynote speaker. Mayor Day shared exciting updates on the many initiatives underway in the City of Rancho Viejo, focused on enhancing public safety, beautification efforts, and preserving the unique small-town charm that residents value so much. We appreciate his leadership and vision for our community.

Of course, no Rotary meeting is complete without a little fun! Members enjoyed delicious food, great fellowship, and the opportunity to win our patriotic raffle prizes, including a Fourth of July-themed beverage dispenser with matching tumblers and a festive red, white, and blue cowboy hat. Our friends Lilyvet and Alma won the beverage dispenser and the cowboy hat! They are ready for the festivities around the corner!

We also discussed several upcoming service opportunities and announced our highly anticipated Installation Ceremony, where we will celebrate the accomplishments of the past year and officially welcome our incoming president as they take the helm for the new Rotary year.

Friendship. Service. Leadership. Community.

That’s Rotary. 💙💛

Rotarians from across South Texas gathered today at the Embassy Suites in McAllen for the Rotary District 5930 Installation Luncheon, where District Governor Jack Gary Alspaugh, Assistant Governors, District Leadership Team members, and Club Presidents-Elect were officially installed for the 2026–2027 Rotary year.

The event featured special recognitions, awards, and inspiring keynote presentations focused on Rotary’s 2026–2027 theme, “Create Lasting Impact.”

A special highlight of the program was the installation of the district leadership team, including Dr. Ceci Gómez, Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Rancho Viejo, who was officially pinned as an Assistant Governor for the upcoming Rotary year. Dr. Gómez also served as Master of Ceremonies for the installation program, helping guide attendees through this important district event.

Our president elect, Nancy Escobedo, was officially pinned and installed as new president of the Rancho Viejo Rotary Club, marking the beginning of a new year with new opportunities to serve our and create lasting impact.

The luncheon celebrated the dedication of Rotary leaders who have committed their time, talents, and resources to serving communities throughout District 5930 and beyond. As Rotary enters a new year of service, fellowship, and leadership, members remain committed to living Rotary’s enduring motto: “Service Above Self.”

Congratulations to all incoming district and club leaders. Together, they will continue creating meaningful and lasting impact throughout the communities they serve.

What a wonderful evening of fellowship, friendship, and Rotary spirit! 💙💛

Last night, the Rotary Club of Rancho Viejo welcomed our friends Carmela and Stan Petraitis from Rotary Sunrise, who shared valuable information about RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) and the exciting opportunities available through both the traditional RYLA Camp and Mini RYLA programs. Investing in our youth is one of the greatest gifts Rotary can offer, and we are grateful for their inspiring presentation.

June is Rotary’s Month of Fellowship, and our meeting reflected exactly that. Members shared stories and special moments from their Rotary journeys that brought smiles, laughter, and fond memories. These friendships and connections are truly what make Rotary so special.

We were also thrilled to welcome several visiting guests. Seeing new faces around the table is always exciting and a reminder that our club continues to grow and thrive!

Congratulations to Annie, the winner of our weekly raffle, who took home a fantastic grilling kit and citronella candles set generously sponsored by our very own Rotarian Sylvia. Thank you, Sylvia, for your continued generosity and support of our club.

A special shout-out to our Rotarian of the Week, Claudio, who shared his personal story and a few fun facts about himself. It was a wonderful reminder that every Rotarian brings unique experiences, talents, and perspectives to our Rotary family.

Together, we continue to build friendships, strengthen our community, and live out Rotary’s motto: Service Above Self While Making It Fun!

💙🍼 Baskets 4 Babies: Supporting New Moms, One Family at a Time 🍼💙

Today, the Rotary Club of Rancho Viejo, in partnership with LFD Home Furnishings & the Life & Family Pregnancy Center, had the privilege of providing bassinets and essential baby items to new moms and moms-to-be through our Baskets 4 Babies initiative.

Seeing the smiles on the faces of these growing families and knowing that these resources will help provide a safe start for their little ones made this event incredibly meaningful.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners at LFD Home Furnishings for their generous sponsorship & the Life & Family Pregnancy Center for joining us in this effort. When organizations come together with a shared purpose, amazing things happen.

✨ Partnerships matter.
✨ Sponsorships matter.
✨ Community matters.

Together, we are helping build stronger families and a brighter future for the next generation.

Rotarians woke up before sunrise today to proudly place American flags throughout the front lawns of Rancho Viejo. 🇺🇸

From loading trucks in the dark to making rounds across the community, our members worked tirelessly putting up and later taking down every flag, double duty and all, with smiles, teamwork, and a shared spirit of service.

Projects like these remind us that Rotary is not just about meetings, it is about showing up for our community, building fellowship, and honoring the values that unite us as Americans.

A heartfelt thank you to every Rotarian and volunteer who sacrificed sleep, battled the heat, and gave their time to make Rancho Viejo look beautiful and patriotic today. ❤️🤍💙

What a beautiful and meaningful Rotary evening filled with fellowship, service, and heartfelt conversations about the impact mentors have on shaping the lives of our youth.

Tonight, we had an inspiring discussion on Youth Service Month and the powerful role mentors play in guiding and encouraging the next generation of leaders. From teachers and scoutmasters to parents and community leaders, mentorship truly changes the lives of young people.

We also welcomed Nancy Dimas from Good Neighbor Settlement House, who shared the incredible work their organization is doing to support the homeless community in Brownsville. Her presentation reminded us all of the importance of compassion, dignity, and community support for those facing difficult circumstances.

Congratulations to Marilyn for taking home tonight’s wine raffle prize! 🍷🎉

In true Rotary spirit, we enjoyed fellowship while also planning upcoming service initiatives, including our Flag Project and our “Baskets for Babies” community project for the month of May.

Service Above Self in action. ✨

What an incredible Cinco de Mayo- kickoff to Youth Service Month for the Rotary Club of Rancho Viejo!

Tonight’s meeting was filled with inspiration, growth, and meaningful conversations centered around the future of our youth and our community. We took time to discuss the top five careers projected to be in high demand over the next five years and reflected on how we, as leaders and mentors, can better prepare our youth for success in an ever-changing workforce.

We were also honored to welcome our keynote speakers from Come Dream. Come Build: Dr. Blanca Marquez & Linda Marin, who shared valuable information about the many grant opportunities available for individuals and families looking to buy or build a home in Brownsville. Their presentation brought hope and practical guidance to many in attendance.

One of the most heartfelt moments of the evening came from local Eagle Scout Allen Hobbs, who paid tribute to the mentors who helped shape his journey into young adulthood. His words reminded us all of the lasting impact that positive role models, servant leadership, and community support can have on the next generation.

We recognized some important members of our club for their service such as Andy Zamarripa for his contributions to the district level as the IT representative. We also recognized upcoming president elect Nancy Escobedo for being a change-maker and having the butterfly effect. Congrats Andy & Nancy! Your work does not go unnoticed!

To top it all off, we raffled off a bottle of tequila, enjoyed a packed house (yes, we had to bring in extra chairs!), and proudly inducted our friend Marilyn Gilbert as the newest member of our Rotary Family.

Welcome to Rotary, Marilyn! We are so excited to have you join the Rotary Club of Rancho Viejo!

We gathered in fellowship, shared great company, and even took part in a fun Best Dressed Derby contest, where our future Rotarian, Marilyn, proudly took first place!

It was truly a beautiful night filled with friendship, laughter, and the spirit of Rotary family.
