Delivering gifts on the 2nd Day of Christmas, Boxing Day! We had two ships in over Christmas, the MV Eastern Venture with 20 Filipino officers and crew and the MV Ning Tai Hai with 24 Chinese officers and crew. Spreading a little Christmas cheer was well received. Thanks to all at Rio Hondo Community Church who put the gifts together!

Unloading the MV Baltic Scorpion on Dock 13. She's been in for a little while, as the officers and crew from India make use of the layover to go shopping and spend some time at the Center.

A setback and pause for thought.
Much investment has gone into this already, based on previous FERC approval. Port Isabel and the Sierra Club object to that approval. We assume there will be an appeal to the DC Circuit Court decision? We shall see what happens.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission must conduct more environmental analysis on three Texas LNG projects they had previously approved, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled on Tuesday.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

BILL'S MESSAGE OF THE DAY
The Meaning of Christmas
By: Bill O'ReillyDecember 21, 2023

So it is Christmas time in America, but no longer does the occasion unite us. Today, our ferociously secular society driven by the woke media basically ignores the actual reason we celebrate Christmas.

To refresh, it's to honor the man who brought Christianity to the world. That man was Jesus of Nazareth, an observant Jew who lived more than 2,000 years ago in Galilee.

The Christian philosophy that Jesus articulated is simple: love your creator, God, and love your neighbor as yourself. That core tenant has made Christianity the most powerful movement in history despite a myriad of distortions coming from dissenters as well as corruption inside the Christian community itself.

Man is imperfect, to say the least.

In 1870, President Grant declared the calendar birth of Jesus, December 25, a federal holiday so everyone could get a day of rest and relaxation, even atheists.

Jesus would have wanted it that way because he loved everyone equally.

And one final thing. If every person had the strength and motivation of the Nazarene, this world would be far more peaceful and prosperous.

Merry Christmas.

Great service saves the day!
Came in with a bad tire, having to make a 10 case delivery of water before a vessel's departure within hours from the Port of Brownsville. The office was hopping busy and most places would have kept me buried at the back of the line, but not Spot Rubber Welders. I waited my turn and management got out from behind the mission control desk and took care of us - so the delivery was made before departure! Exceptional service! Much appreciated by me, the International Seafarer Center and the guys who really needed that water before they set sail.

In the meantime we are staying busy.
At the end of last year two people jumped ship. The result of this was a tightening of procedures initially and a cancellation of shore leave after the second offense, with a few exceptions. Since then, we have offered to go shopping for those crews that couldn't get ashore, just as we did during COVID. We expect this matter to be resolved shortly, so all with visas can go ashore, catch a break from the workplace and enjoy doing their own shopping.
