Youth in Philanthropy Initiative by The Brownsville Community Foundation The Foundation has gone regional and changed our name to reflect that! We are now The Rio Grande Valley Philantropic Foundation!

In YIP we match high school classes in McAllen ISD and Brownsville ISD with local nonprofits to give grants! The Youth in Philanthropy Initiative also provides for a Class Mentors program. Each Philanthropy class in each public high school has a volunteer member of the community who stands as their Class Mentor. The Class Mentor relays to the class their personal experiences with local philanthrop

y. The Class Mentor helps explain what it means to 'give back', to support the local nonprofits who provide the services that are the supporting fabric of our community. The Class Mentor accompanies the class to the visits at the nonprofit organizations. The Class Mentor helps with the students understanding of the granting process.
