May is a special month in Indiana. ๐ But for those of us who loved Beth, itโs a month that holds an even deeper meaning: It is Brain Cancer Awareness Month. ๐๏ธ๐ง
Beth was the kind of person who didn't just walk into a room; she lit it up. She loved the energy of a live musical, the drama of a great stage show, and the thrill of a Hoosier win. She had a sense of humor that could make anyone smile and a devotion to her family that was second to none.
Glioblastoma is an aggressive, relentless disease that tries to steal those moments. It doesnโt care about theater tickets, sports schedules, or the time we have left with the people we love. It is a diagnosis that stops everything in its tracks.
Today, in honor of Bethโs spirit, we are officially launching our inaugural "Champions of Hope" campaign.
This month, our Champions have pledged to raise a collective $25,000 โa goal that goes directly to the Joanne I. Carey Glioblastoma Research Fund at the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Why the "Champions of Hope"?
Because we refuse to let the story end with the diagnosis. We are funding the world-class science at Indiana University that gives families more time for the things Beth loved. Your support fuels:
๐งฌ Tumor Sequencing: A $400-per-sample process that creates a genetic roadmap for treatment.
๐ง Breaking the Barrier: Research into how to get life-saving medicine through the brainโs natural defenses.
๐ A World-First Database: Building a library of patient data in Indy that doesnโt exist anywhere else on the planet.
Our goal is to turn "impossible" into "treatable" through surgical and immunotherapy breakthroughs. We want the next family to have more seasons, more shows, and more hope.
