Last friday was a busy day for EMS! We had the opportunity to provide heat injury and snake bite training to the solar plant workers south of town. With the help of the Brownfield Fire Department and the Brownfield Police Department we also assisted with training for the Brownfield Aquatic Center Lifeguards and give a demonstration of how EMS will take over and utilize thier skills in the event of an emergency. We continued that training through the EMS transport and into the ER for a community wide training event. This helps us align to our new hospital mission, "Commitment to care, commitment to community".

We are proud to share that Brownfield Regional Medical Center was recently awarded a grant called Fire Ambulance Service Trucks and Rural Outreach and Wellness (FAST-ROW) through the State Office of Rural Health and the Community Development Block Grant offices within the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA).

Our hospital district received two Ford Explorers to support community outreach and wellness initiatives. One of these vehicles has been wrapped in BRMC EMS graphics and will be used specifically for EMS outreach and wellness efforts throughout our community.

We are grateful to TDA, for investing in the health, safety, and wellness of our community. This support helps us continue expanding services beyond emergency response and into education, proactive care, and prevention.

Yesterday, Brownfield Regional Medical Center completed Emergency Vehicle Operations training!
We’re training some new faces in town, and staying sharp so we can continue providing safe, reliable care to our community. Your safety—on and off the road—is why this training matters.
Big thanks to the Brownfield Police Department and Brownfield Fire Department for the use of their training room, and to First Baptist Church for allowing us to use their parking lot. We couldn’t do this without our amazing community partners!

As you celebrate Christmas and the New Year, remember your local EMS crews are here for you 24/7 — even while we’re away from our own families. A few simple safety steps can help keep the holidays happy and emergency-free:
• Fully defrost your turkey and never fry a frozen one — that’s how you meet the fire department.
• Stay in the kitchen while cooking and keep kids and pets clear of hot surfaces. Please don’t burn dinner.
• Decorate safely by checking lights, avoiding overloaded outlets, and never leaving candles unattended.
• Plan a sober ride if alcohol is part of the celebration.
• Check on neighbors, older adults, and loved ones — no one should be alone for the holidays.
With warmer temperatures this year, ice may not be an issue, but cooking fires, heat, and busy roads still are. Take your time and look out for one another. As much as we love caring for you, we’d rather not see you on Christmas.
From our EMS family to yours, have a Merry Christmas and a safe, Happy New Year.
