The Hog Town Run originated about 16 years ago in the little village of Melvin, located in the thumb of Michigan. With the help of the Melvin Tavern owner, Larry Drouillard (RIP) and a small group of friends, the first Hog Town Run was organized. The proceeds from this run were donated to a family to help with their child's medical expenses. 176 Riders came out for this innaugural run. Prior to th
e second annual run, it was decided that proceeds would be donated to United Hospice Services. 214 riders came out for this run. In January 2008 Hog Town Inc was born a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization registered through the state of Michigan. It was at this time that hog Town Inc. became "Dedicated to United Hospice Services." Our 2008 run brought 720 Riders and raised $14,000. We continued this tradition in 2009 and 2010. Our record breaking of $17,500 in 2011 was the greatest event ever. In 2012 and 13 with less bikes and in the rain we still raised over $10,000 for HOSPICE. In 2014 we donated $15,000. We had over 700 bikes, and over 1000 people attended our 10th Annual run. "A DECADE OF GIVING". As we continue our annual run in 2015 a check was presented to hospice for $16,000. And in 2016 with half the bikes and people, due to inclement weather we still managed to give Hospice a check of $8,000. Our 2017 run was almost record-breaking from 2011 run. We presented a check to Hospice for $17,000. As we continued. In 2018 we donated $11,000 and in 2019 we donated $15,000 to Hospice. Each year the bikes are expanding in our community with tons of support. With a police es**rt to Hospice this Parade of bikes is amazing to watch. Due to Covid in 2020 we were unable to have this event. We then continued........
In 2021 With a lot of hard work and some changes in location, we were able to donate $11,000 to United Hospice Services of Marlette Regional Hospital. A total of $196,000 has been donated to United hospice Services in the past 16 years. We thank you all for your support and donations to Hog Town Inc.
