Time flies! The 7th installment of the Brooten Farmers Market is TODAY at its usual time. The drought has been tough on gardens all over the area, but fortunately, an assortment of vegetables will be in Brooten, including North Fork Township-based sweet corn!

Tomatoes, green peppers and acorn squash went quickly at today's Brooten Farmers Market, but sweet corn and cucumber supply is still strong! There's always plenty to see here, 4 to 7pm every Thursday in Brooten.

Thank you, Brooten Farmers Market attendees! The veggie selection increases each week. Gardeners are battling through quite a local drought. Our last real rain was on Tuesday, July 7.

Thursday, August 6! The next one in Brooten. Mark it on your calendars. Thank you for the support.

Tomorrow, Saturday, July 25, is the big day at the Belgrade Sportsmen's Range for Jakes Day, a youth firearm safety and conservation event, which is FREE for all area kids ages 3 to 17. It is sponsored by the Bonanza Valley Royal Strutters.

Some years, this has brought 60 to 70 kids to the range, so before the heat wave bites down this weekend, hopefully a huge turnout of kids can enjoy the morning in Crow Lake Township.

The Royal Strutters invests heavily in Jakes Day, so they look forward to seeing a large crowd come out to the range in the morning.

New vendors are welcome at the Brooten Farmers Market. "Family Friendly" is all we ask! With any questions, you can call 320-346-2400.

This is especially a great opportunity for youth to share their talents. The most recent example is Aiken Spanier, a 9th grader at B-B-E high school this fall, who has sold hand-made cutting boards. This was included in the July 16 issue of the newspaper.

The third Brooten Farmers Market of the season is tonight! Just as drought conditions are gripping the Brooten area, we hope you can stop by and take in what's available. Broccoli, leaf lettuce, green beans, zucchini and berries has for sale. In spite of the dry weather, produce selection should continue to increase week by week.

The third Brooten Farmers Market night of the season will be held on Thursday, July 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the city park. The farmers market vendors have had success set up in the northeast side of the park, under nice shade, while tables face the tennis courts. They look forward to seeing you stop....
