Company Member Spotlight 10: Company Director Rebecca Allen šŸ¤øā€ā™€ļø Rebecca Allen Stewart

About Beck:
Rebecca, a New York City native, is a graduate of LaGuardia H.S., and the Dance Conservatory at SUNY Purchase. During her college years she performed works by Doug Varone, Ori Flomin, Mark Morris, and John Heginbotham. She also studied in Perth, Australia at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, focusing on contemporary dance and aerial circus silks. Rebecca has danced with AMS Project and was a guest artist in Doug Varone’s Choreographic Intensive where she had the opportunity to dance with Dance Householder, MATYCHAK, and Sum Bones Co. In NYC she was a member of CoreDance Contemporary, SynthesisDance, and Copy That Dance. She also created and is the artistic director of her own dance company, Animus Movement. Beck relocated to Colorado in 2022 where she started a second company, as well as dancing for T2 Dance Company, the Presenting Denver Ensemble, Brandon Welsh and Celia Perarnaud.

Beck started Animus in 2020 as a dance film project, which was one of the few ways to continue creating and performing during that time. What began as a way to keep dancing quickly grew into something much bigger, and Animus Movement officially launched in New York City in February 2021. After expanding to Colorado in October 2022, Animus has continued to grow, creating dance films, performing at festivals and venues across New York and Colorado, collaborating with incredible artists, and producing full-length contemporary dance works. What started as a way to keep dancing has grown into something shared by so many incredible people. Animus would not be what it is today without the dancers, collaborators, musicians, supporters, and audiences who have been part of this journey. We are so grateful for everyone who has helped bring this little dream to life, and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been creating with you!

Come see Beck and her friends in the premiere of Semitae: Where We Pass at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theatre on October 24th + 25th.

Company Member Spotlight 9: Larah Pamplin 🪓 Larah Rose Pamplin

About Larah:
Larah recently moved to Denver from NYC after dancing and teaching for 11+ years there. Since graduating from Pace University with a BFA in commercial dance, she has danced with companies such as SynthesisDANCE and CoreDance Contemporary to name a few. You might have seen her in the award winning documentary ā€œAmy’s Victory Danceā€ on AppleTV and is currently the assistant director for Animus Movement. Larah has assisted choreographers such as Rhonda Miller at dance conventions and has worked with Michael Rooney and Jackie Sleight in LA. Some of Larah’s performance experience includes the New York Film Academy, Rising Stars at the Joyce Theatre and Synergy at New York Live Arts. Since moving to Denver, Larah spent 4 years dancing and touring with T2 Dance Company and is in her 2nd season with Presenting Denver Ensemble.

Larah has been with Animus since the very beginning! She was part of the very first project Animus ever created, a dance film, and after our first live performance, she stepped up as Assistant Director. Over the years, her role has grown into SO much more. She choreographs a huge part of our work, helps run rehearsals, takes on admin and behind the scenes tasks, and somehow manages to do it all while being an incredible dancer herself. (And her husband makes all of our music, so we really do keep it in the family!)

Larah is loyal, hardworking, wildly talented, and is one of the biggest reasons Animus is what it is today. I feel so lucky and honored that we get to build this company together. She is so much more than an assistant director - she is my partner, my equal, and an integral part of everything we do. I truly cannot imagine Animus without her.

In just two weeks, we get to share what we’ve poured so much of ourselves into, and I cannot wait for you all to see what we’ve created šŸ¤

Come see Larah’s enticing choreography in our new full length work, Semitae: Where We Pass at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theatre on October 24th + 25th.

Company Member Spotlight 8: Emmy Spaar šŸ«€ Emmy Spaar

About Emmy:
Originally from Finksburg, MD, Emmy Spaar grew up training at Studio Dans under the direction of Dana Keane and graduated from DeSales University in 2018. She has been honored to perform works by Antony Tudor, Doug Varone, Trinette Singleton, Colby Damon, Brandon Welch, and Celia Grannum Perarnaud. She was also seen in the 2016 and 2017 seasons of the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival in their productions of West Side Story and Evita. In New York City, she danced with the Chase Brock Experience, the Nathaniel Hunt Project, Neville Dance Theatre, and Alma Collective. Since moving to Denver in 2022, she performed with Hannah Kahn Dance Company and is currently a member of Animus Movement. Emmy is so grateful for the opportunity to perform as she works toward her goal of graduating nursing school in June 2027.

Emmy has been with Animus since the beginning! She is an OG member and was in the very first piece we ever performed, Tradecraft, back in NYC in August 2021. Since then, she has danced with us through so many pieces in Colorado - Temporum, Bloodflow, Formula, Formation, Amour proprĆ©, Breathe, Canvas, Metus, + Colloquium. She has been with us through it all and honestly, it’s making me a little teary-eyed writing this. 🄹 Emmy is becoming a nurse, and we are so incredibly grateful that she still makes time in her schedule to dance with us. I am determined to keep her involved with Animus for as long as she can! Emmy is Animus, and I truly don’t know what we would do without her šŸ¤

Join us and see Emmy perform in our new full length work, Semitae: Where We Pass at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theatre on October 24th + 25th.

Company Member Spotlight 7: Madison Hard 🌼 MADISON

About Madison:
Madison began her dance training at Premier School of Dance in Thornton, Colorado. Madison continued her training through the collegiate dance program at Colorado State University and now proudly holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance and a minor in Business Administration. Throughout her time at Colorado State University, Madison further extended and developed her technique, performance, and pedagogy skills. Currently, Madison is a company artist with the dance company, Animus Movement and teaches amongst local dance studios.

This is Madison’s first year with Animus, and she is our very first dancer to make the jump from Animus II to the main company! When we started Animus II last year, one of our hopes was to bring more dancers into our Animus family and eventually have them grow into the main company. We are SO excited that Madison is our first! She is the sweetest, always on top of the choreography and counts, and such a hard worker. She comes into the studio ready to work every time, and we are so happy to have her!

See Madison + the rest of the company for the premiere of Semitae: Where We Pass at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theatre on October 24th + 25th.

Company Member Spotlight 6: Alex Tenreiro Theis šŸŒŖļø Alex Tenreiro Theis

About Alex:
Originally from Colorado, Alex Tenreiro Theis earned her BFA from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. As a freelance performer in New York City for ten years, she had the pleasure of working on projects with Yosh*to Sakuraba’s Abarukas, Jonah Bokaer, Pamela Pietro, Rohan Bhargava’s ROVACO, Eryc Taylor Dance, Asia Duo Dance Company, Angie Moon Dance Theatre, Netta Yerushalmy and Gregory Dolbashian to name several. She has had the opportunity to perform internationally at MASH International Choreography Festival (Israel), Masdanza International Contemporary Dance Festival (Spain), Avant Garde International Dance Festival (Mexico), ASWARA University Building Bridges Workshop (Malaysia) and the FIDCDMX Festival (Mexico). Additionally, she’s performed nationally at iconic venues and festivals such as The BAM Fisher (NYC), Kaatsbaan International Dance Center (NY), Palm Desert Choreography Festival at McCallum Theatre (CA), Rabbit Island Festival at Rozsa Center MTU (MI), Bryant Park Contemporary Festival (NYC), Jacob’s Pillow InsideOut Theater (MA) as well as others. In Colorado she has worked with Hannah Kahn Dance Company, BW Creative along with Animus Movement.

Alex has been with us for 3 seasons - she’s danced in every full-length we’ve ever done! Though honestly, it feels like she’s been with us from the very beginning. She is an INSANE mover, traveling and tumbling around the floor like a smooth spider monkey. She never fails to get oohs and ahhs and jaws on the floor as she dances around like a tornado. Somehow, without even intending to, she ends up with a solo in every full length - she simply demands the spotlight! We are so lucky and grateful to have this lovely human and powerhouse dancer in Animus.

Come see Alex in our new full length work Semitae: Where We Pass at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theatre October 24th + 25th.

Company Member Spotlight 4: Trinity England 🌃 Trinity England

About Trinity:
Trinity England is a contemporary dance artist originally from New York whose work explores the intersection of rigor, vulnerability, and collaboration. With early training at Ballet Long Island, Joffrey Ballet School, and Ballet HispƔnico, she developed a strong technical foundation that continues to inform her evolving, inquiry-based practice. She earned her BFA in Dance, magna cm laude, from the University of the Arts in 2022.

During her time at the University of the Arts, Trinity performed in works by Doug Varone, Sara Shelton Mann, Tommie-Waheed Evans, Jesse Zaritt, Sidra Bell, Montay Romero, and Shayla-Vie Jenkins, deepening her engagement with contemporary, improvisational, and process-driven work. She went on to perform professionally with Stewart/Owen Dance from 2022–2023 and is currently a principal dancer with Vitality [the company] and Animus Movement.

Trinity is also an educator, currently teaching at The Boulder Ballet School and The Hideout, while also offering master classes with The P(Art) Project, led by Kelly Demelio. Her teaching focuses on contemporary movement, improvisation, and embodied awareness, encouraging dancers to cultivate curiosity, embrace risk-taking, and develop an authentic connection to their movement.

This is Trinity’s first season with the company - Larah originally brought her in as a last minute addition for her group section, and we were immediately obsessed. We ended up asking her to join us for even more! She’s an incredible, completely unique mover, and once she starts going you can’t take your eyes off her. We’re so happy she’s part of the Animus fam!

Come see Trinity and the premiere of Semitae: Where We Pass October 24th + 25th at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theatre.
