Part of the Colorado arts community since 2002, Art as Action (AaA) is a collective of Artivists - which AaA defines as champions and ambassadors of the communal, universal, healing language of art. With a 13-year history of nurturing artists and inspiring community engagement in the arts in Boulder and surrounding areas, AaA has successfully produced 12 performances and offers two signature progr

ams: Reconnect with your Body for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease (PD), and Young Artivists for at-risk youth. AaA is the arena where Artivists discover their potential for creativity and connection. Over a decade’s worth of performers and audience members will attest to AaA’s ability to create valuable opportunities for any and every performer, and this inclusiveness extends into AaA’s programs. As AaA dancer Mary Lane describes it, “I’m an Artivist because it connects me to a community of critical thinkers.”

AaA nurtures and cultivates a wide range of Artivists: from veteran performers experimenting with new genres to closet artists discovering their creative potential; from people with Parkinson’s uncovering their inner dancer to youth finding a safe space to explore their place in the world. These benefits extend to its audiences by inspiring them to imagine their own artistic possibilities.

This is a brand new video filmed on Wednesday April 15 during a HYBRID RECONNECT CLASS at our beautiful new location, Colorado Movement Lab, in Westminster. It features moments from class, both in-person and on Zoom, and the voices of our dancers sharing what Reconnect means to them.
