THANK YOU ALL so very much for making our Lenten Dinners a huge success this year. We finished the final Friday night with 320 dinners served; our second highest total.
Over the six week run for Lent we served on average 270 dinners each evening(our high was 345 on March 12); that could easily have been an average of 290-300; except our first few weeks we were just not prepared for the response that we received. The Friday Night Dinners in January and February did not bring in near this number, so we were not sure what to expect.
Each week we upped the amount of fish and fries and coleslaw and we still struggled to keep up. By week four we nailed it and for the last three weeks of Lent no one got turned away.
THANK YOU for supporting us and we hope to see you for the next Friday Night Dinner on May 7th at Marian; same menu same times, same situation...Drive thru.
My special thanks goes out to the kitchen and service and clean up crews. I had wished to be outside on the front line greeting our guests, but my dish pan hand talent was needed elsewhere.
To stand back and to watch the cook crew prepping the fish and fries and keeping a steady flow of hot food coming out was truly amazing.
The service crew was equally amazing in how they assembled the dinners meanwhile keeping straight how many dinners were needed for each car and if someone was to get additional fillets was truly impressive.
The clean up crew had quite a task cleaning the fryer baskets and washing all of the pans involved. mopping that floor and getting all put away was a huge task and often they did not get out until 9:30 - three hours after closing.
THANK YOU to all who took part. Your spirit and teamwork made this fun (except those fryer baskets!).
See you all back on May 7th?
