This house was built in 1831 on land bought in 1827, in Clay Township. The house was on Route 40 just west of Parish Cemetery on the north side of the road. The owners were Frederick Beachler (from Germany) who married Anna Frantz (born in Virginia in 1791) in Montgomery County on July 5, 1818. They had seven sons and one daughter. Frederick died prior to 1850. Behind the house was a flat stone with some writing, which may have been his marker. Anna died in 1871 in Clay Township. On the back of this picture from our files it says the house was remodeled.

Paul Clark came to Brookville and opened a pharmacy with a partner, Art Schuck on August 8, 1960. The pharmacy was located at 119 Market St. (now Brookville Flower Shop). The pharmacy moved to the Brookside Shipping Center in November 1971. Mr. Clark took over as sole owner in 1974. Mr. Clark decided to sell his pharmacy in 1985 to Rite-Aid. After 25 years in the business, he felt it was time to dial back a little in order to enjoy traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He did not just leave the business entirely nor did most of the other employees. In particular, he and fellow pharmacist Richard Dorn continued to work there. Paul said that now he would not have to work every other weekend, which really tied him down.

In May 1919 work began on the New Standard Oil Station at the intersection of Western Ave., Wolf Creek St & Market Street. This new station opened on September 17, 1919 with up-to-date oil and service equipment of the latest type. The grounds were put in fine shape. The old billboard which stood there was removed. William Worman and Edward Boomershine were the local salesmen. The station handled everything in the oil and grease line and had free air and water on tap. Standard Oil first owned the station, later Perry Lauver and then George Minnich and later became a service garage. Behind the service station was a building that originally housed a wagon factory (can be seen in the background in this picture).
