Established in 2003, the Sunman-Dearborn School Endowment Corporation has provided over $4 million in grants, supporting a wide range of programs and resources for students, staff, and parents.

Last year, the Endowment introduced a new scholarship initiative, offering six scholarships each valued at $5,000 to deserving East Central High School students of the Class of 2025 who are planning to attend a trade school.

Successful applicants will be permitted to renew the scholarship for a 2nd year, for a total of $10,000. This initiative reflects the Endowment's commitment to supporting diverse educational pathways and recognizing the importance of vocational training in today’s economy.

Sunman-Dearborn Schools Endowment Corporation to Continue Providing Free K-5 School Supplies

St. Leon, IN – The Sunman-Dearborn Schools Endowment Corporation is pleased to announce that it will provide free K-5 school supplies for all students in the Sunman-Dearborn Community School Corporation. This initiative, which began in 2019, will once again ensure that families in the district have one less worry as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

Established in 2003, the Sunman-Dearborn Schools Endowment Corporation has provided over $4 million in grants, supporting a wide range of programs and resources for students, staff, and parents. The continued funding of school supplies is a testament to the Endowment's dedication to investing in the educational success of every child in the district.

“We are proud to continue this important initiative,” said Dr. Andrew Jackson, Superintendent and member of the Endowment Corporation Board. “By covering the cost of essential school supplies, we aim to support the academic success of every student and ease the financial burden on our families.”

Sunman-Dearborn Endowment Corporation Announces Continued Support for Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools with Significant Contributions

St. Leon, IN – [May 1, 2024] – The Sunman-Dearborn Endowment Corporation (SDEC) is proud to announce its continued commitment to the educational advancement and support of students within the Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools. This year’s contributions from the SDEC will notably enhance both academic and extracurricular programs across all district schools, demonstrating our ongoing dedication to fostering educational excellence in our community.

As part of its commitment to the Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools, SDEC will allocate a total of $47,500 to bolster extracurricular programming throughout the five schools in the district. This funding aims to ensure that all students have access to diverse and enriching activities beyond the classroom, helping them to develop essential life skills and interests.

In addition to supporting extracurricular activities, SDEC will fund the acquisition of new furniture that complements the current building projects and library redesign at East Central High School. This improvement is designed to enhance learning environments and ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards of comfort and functionality for all students.

The board was presented a $200,000 check from the Sunman-Dearborn Endowment Corporation. The money will be used to reduce book bills to $25 for all students for the 2022-2023 school year. The Endowment has provided over $3,000,000 in grants for our teachers, students, and parents.

This is made possible by the grants from the Sunman-Dearborn Endowment Corporation and the support of the Board of Trustees of the Sunman-Dearborn Community School Corporation.

Since 2003, the Sunman-Dearborn Schools Endowment Corporation has provided nearly $4M in grants for our teachers, students, and families, including the book bill subsidy. In 2018, the book bill subsidy was significantly increased so that all books bills were lowered to $25 for our parents and families.
