A huge thank you again to everyone who stopped by today! ❤️ We served over 155 people, and to say we are thrilled would be an understatement!

We have lots of fun things happening at the Community Center over the next few weeks, and we hope you’ll join us!

🦌 September 12–13: Hunter Safety Course — Only 1 spot left!

🎶 September 26 at 6 PM: Live music and dancing featuring local band Along For the Ride. Come enjoy a great night with your community!

🎃 October 10: BCC Fall Carnival — We’re still looking for volunteers and game hosts! If you’d like to help make this a fun event for everyone, we’d love to have you! Your business will be recognized at the event and the time leading up to the event!

We’re excited to share that we are about 20% of the way to our fundraising goal for the BCC kitchen stove/hood/exhaust/extinguisher upgrade!

We’re so grateful to everyone who has donated and helped spread the word. Every dollar and every bit of support truly makes a difference.

But… we still have a long way to go!

Our goal is to raise the funds needed for a new commercial kitchen exhaust hood and fire-suppression system, which will help us continue to safely use our kitchen and continue hosting breakfasts, community events, programs, birthdays, weddings, and gatherings for years to come.

Did you know that the Brooksville Community Center wasn’t always the Community Center we know and love today?

And what makes this history even more meaningful is that the connection to this building runs deep in our current community.
Some of our current board members have parents, grandparents, and relatives who were among the people who helped construct this building, fought to preserve it, or pushed for it to become the community center it is today.

In fact, every member of our current board has a personal connection to this place. Whether their family helped build the original gym, grew up attending events here, volunteered over the years, or worked to keep its doors open, each of us has a reason to care deeply about the future of the Brooksville Community Center.

For more than 80 years, this building has been a place where people have come together—and for more than 40 years, it has been cared for and shaped by the community.

We are working hard to restore, improve, and breathe new life into the Community Center so that it can continue to be a place for gatherings, celebrations, activities, memories, and community for generations to come.

Below is our own Phil Wessel’s recounting of how the Community Center came to be, along with a little history about this special building.
