Brooks Ambulance Year in Review
In 2025, the service responded to 347 emergency calls.
Call volume for the towns in our jurisdiction was:
Brooks - 117
Jackson - 53
Knox - 56
Monroe - 84
We provided coverage to Unity and Troy with 2 calls each and Dixmont with 1 call.
Unfortunately, in January '25, we were unable to cover 4 calls - one because our crew was already on a call, and 3 due to crew shortage. We're pleased to say the service responded to 100% of the 911 calls for the remainder of the year.
Thanks to the amazing grant writing skills of our chief, Brooks Ambulance partnered with Washington County Community College to offer our 3rd Basic EMT course. All 13 course graduates passed the National Registry EMT Certification exam. Congratulations to crew members Shaun Hamilton, Sierra Fonger, Zack Harriman and Betsy Young on their Basic EMT certifications. Belated Congratulations to 2024 graduates, Basic EMTs Karen Mushrall, MaryJo Abbott, Megan Elkins, and Barbara Files-Lucier.
2025 also saw two crew members earn higher level certifications. Congratulations to Jen Buttery on earning her Paramedic license and Ken Clements on his Advanced EMT license! All of these folks invested hundreds of hours of their time to achieve these certifications.
Throughout the year, Brooks Ambulance searched for a new home to build a larger station. We cannot be more grateful to Brooks resident, Linda Lord for her generous donation of land. We're looking forward to breaking ground on the future home of Brooks Ambulance later this spring.
