GOLF4RICKY is a charity golf tournament in honor of Ricky Simmons, a longtime member of Hat Creek Golf Course in Brookneal, VA.
100% of tournament proceeds are donated in the Central VA area to aid in the fight against cancer.

GOLF4RICKY 2022 was such a huge success, we had to take a bit of a breather!
We're glad to be back to share this wonderful message.
On Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, Ann Simmons, Ricky's widow, and Cindy Camper, Ricky's sister, presented with a check for $20,000.00!
The money will be used by the Centra Cancer Fund to help needy cancer patients pay for food, utilities, transportation and other basic needs. 100% of the $20,000.00 donated will make its' way directly to patient's hands.
The amount raised and donated was made possible by the incredible generosity of sponsors, supporters and the 180 golfers who played in the tournament, all brought together through a year's worth of work by numerous volunteers. .
To all who helped make the impossible possible, giving hope to those in their darkest hour and letting them know someone cares, we are grateful.

G4R 2022 is a wrap. And what a blast and great celebration of Ricky's life we had! As Ms. Ann said, Ricky would be so proud.
THANK YOU to all the volunteers, incredibly generous supporters and sponsors, and thank you to all the golfers who played. What a time!
We'll have much more to share with you in the coming days from our absolutely awesome weekend. But for right now, here's a few candid snapshots of some of the action. Enjoy, and thank you for all the memories. We are grateful.

If there's one thing Bobby Johnson knows, it's cars.
"I've been working on them my whole life." And that adds up to well over 4 decades of experience.
Bobby owns Vidler's Automotive in Richmond, VA. His team covers your car bumper to bumper. Oil changes, alignments, transmissions, ac, brakes, these guys are the experts.
Vidler's Automotive is a Co-Presenting Sponsor of GOLF4RICKY. Bobby says supporting G4R was a no-brainer. "I'm not trying to be a star. I just want to give back and help others."
Bobby and his business are clients of John Perkins and his company, Hunter Engineering. "JP" is neighbors with Ricky's brother, John. JP is also a massive supporter of G4R and knew he had to get Bobby involved.
"Everybody needs help, everybody gets down. I’ve had people help me. You’ve got to pass it along when you can," said Bobby.
The G4R mission would not be possible without people like JP, Bobby Johnson and the support of sponsors like his business, .

Its GOLF4RICKY 2022 Eve!
We are super excited! All the planning, prep, work, it's all done and we are set!
The tournament kicks off Fri. @1:30pm.
We thought it would be fitting on this day before to share pics of Ricky doing what he loved - playing golf. It's a special edition of "Throwback Thursday!"
A big shout out to Jason Covington for sharing these photos with us, and letting us share them with you.
What an honor to hold this tournament in Ricky's name, and carry on all that he believed in.

For last year's GOLF4RICKY (G4R) event, we faced a challenge. Many people reached out who didn't play golf but wanted to support us.
So, this year we created a path for anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer, to join Team G4R.
We are offering friends and families of cancer victims an opportunity to remember their loved ones on the "GOLF4RICKY Memorial Wall." You can see a mock-up version in this post.
The 2' x 3' "walls" will be on display at G4R '22 so everyone can see the faces of those taken too early by this disease. After the tournament, we will also post each "wall" on FB and IG.

They're back!
Cracker Barrel Wards Road will be providing food for GOLF4RICKY (G4R) 2022. The grill will be fired up and no doubt players will get a whiff out on the course.
Last year when asked if CB would like to join us, Matt Johnston, the manager of the Wards Road location (that's him in the blue shirt), DID NOT hesitate to jump on board.
"That's something we definitely want to be a part of," Matt said when we told him about our mission. G4R donates 100% of proceeds to help support cancer patients in their battle.
We are huge fans of Matt and Cracker Barrel Wards Road and are so fortunate to have his team with us. When you see Matt at G4R or when you visit the restaurant, please give him a quick thank you. Team G4R

Happy TBT everyone!
Every week leading up to this year's GOLF4RICKY (G4R) Charity Golf Tournament Sep. 16-17, we're jumping onboard the WayBack machine for a trip to last year's event.
Hang on.. here we go!
On this edition of G4R "Throw Back Thursday," the perfect swing balance you see belongs to Ms. Myoungho Kenny, that's Carson Pollard checking his raffle ticket for a winner and there's a candid scene of the busy proshop in between morning and afternoon rounds.
BTW.. Ms. Kenny is married to Dr. Patrick Kenny with Gastroenterology Associates of Central VA. Dr. Kenny and his GACV Outreach Team will be with us again this year talking to golfers about the life-saving benefits of early detection.
