We are a non profit public interest law firm working to combat gender-based discrimination that creates barriers to economic security and advancement

The Gender Equality Law Center (GELC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2014. GELC’s mission is to break down barriers created by gender discrimination and gender stereotyping that limit equal opportunities in education, employment, and in other spheres of public and private life. Promoting economic equality in education and the workplace will help ensure full access to a wide varie

ty of benefits and services without regard to gender or perceived gender. GELC uses an innovative strategy to accomplish these goals through a combination of strategic impact litigation, training, and education and non-litigation advocacy. GELC uses strategic litigation to enforce and expand existing anti-discrimination laws and legal protections with a focus on policy and procedural changes. GELC is a unique organization which uses training and resource development for lawyers with the goal of increasing the number of private lawyers willing to represent low-income victims of discrimination. GELC Staff and its volunteers maintain a vibrant commitment to non-litigation advocacy to educate the public and change policies within the government and private sectors.

The ongoing rollback of civil rights protections for women, female-identifying individuals, LGBTQIA+ communities, and transgender and non-binary individuals is both alarming and disheartening — especially under the current federal administration.
