You called and rallied your members of Congress, pledged to vote in November, emailed the governor to pass critical legislation, and joined us for film screenings and community picnics across the state!

Recent federal funding cuts to the Essential Plan, a low-cost health insurance option for people of a certain income level, have affected over 450k New Yorkers across the state, leaving health care options limited and people at risk of losing their access to lifesaving, necessary care. New York State has notified impacted individuals already, but you can learn more about your options via the NY State of Health website (linked below).

While this is a discouraging blow to accessible health care in New York, know this: PPGNY remains committed to welcoming any patient through our door, regardless of ability to pay. We are here for you, no matter what.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court issued a heartbreaking ruling for transgender girls who’ve asked for nothing more than the same opportunities afforded to their peers. The equality of transgender women and girls takes nothing away from, and in fact promotes, the equality of all women and girls.

Thankfully, the Court did not grant what we know the politicians driving this issue wanted from the start – a broad precedent restricting the freedom of all transgender people in our schools, workplaces, and communities. Every day we see another effort to deny transgender people control over their own bodies, identities, and lives, and we will continue to fight for the freedom of all people to be themselves without fear or political interference.

The history of Pride is rooted in the fight for dignity and respect, safety and love. Every person, no matter their identity, deserves to be their authentic self -- in public settings, at work, in medical spaces, at home...everywhere.
