Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program is an artist residency program based in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program awards rent-free non-living studio space to 17 visual artists for year-long residencies. Its mission is to provide a working studio and community for artists. Artists are selected annually based on merit from a competitive pool of applicants by a professional jury.

The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program is pleased to announce the 2026-2027 cohort of incoming resident artists. From a national pool of nearly 2,000 applicants, seventeen artists have been awarded year-long, rent-free studio spaces in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

Residents are chosen annually by a jury of distinguished contemporary artists. This year’s 2026-2027 jury was composed of current SWSP Artists Advisory Committee members Matthew Deleget, Phong Bui, and Didier William ‘12, and SWSP alumni Josephine Halvorson ‘09, and William Villalongo ‘05.

The recipients of the 2026-2027 SWSP residency are: Alisa Sikelianos-Carter, Anne Gilman, Beverly Fishman, David Shrobe, Davis Arney, E.E. Ikeler, Emily Janowick, Isaiah Davis, Jonathan Sanchez Noa, Khalif Tahir Thompson, Lee Maxey, Louis Block, Madjeen Isaac, Mariel Rolwing Montes, Olivia Jia, Satpreet Kahlon, and Takuji Hamanaka

Applications are now open for the 2026-27 Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program. The application deadline is January 15, 2025 at 11:59pm.

Each year The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program awards rent-free studio space to 17 visual artists for year-long residencies. The program is located in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, home to art galleries, independent restaurants and shops, and creative professionals. Studios are near public parks, the city waterfront, and many forms of transit.

High-ceiling artist studios are accessible 24/7 and include freight and passenger elevator access.

The 2026–2027 Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program residency period will last from September 2026 through August 2027, with an open studios weekend planned for Spring 2027.

The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program has provided working studio space and community for artists since 1991. Artists are selected annually based on merit from a competitive pool of applicants by a professional jury comprising artists and members of the Artists Advisory Committee.
