For years, families on Chicago’s Southeast Side faced an unfair burden, constantly having to prove the health harms of industrial facilities stacking up in their backyards. This week, their incredible determination paid off with the passage of the historic Illinois Environmental Justice Act!

Real civic trust is built right outside our front doors when we listen to one another and act together. 🏡✨

In Montgomery, Alabama, more than 175 everyday residents across 50 local neighborhood associations did just that. By organizing together and completing public civic training, they unlocked $300,000 in micro-grants to improve their blocks on their own terms—building new playgrounds, setting up safety equipment, and organizing neighborhood cleanups.
