March begins. We depart Jay & High Street Plaza and proceed along official march route, which we will announce as soon as city officials make final decision in coming days. Directions to Jay Street/High Street Plaza
The gathering place for the 10/1 March for Racial Justice is located at Jay Street Plaza (Jay Street and High Street), Brooklyn. The plaza is directly across the street from the New York City College of Technology at 300 Jay Street, Brooklyn, 11201. When thinking about racism on a local level, there are many systematic issues that affect the New York City communities of color:
• Housing/Gentrification/Terraforming/Real Estate Gerrymandering
• Broken Windows Policing
• Rikers Island/Mass Incarceration
• Public Education/Charter Schools
• Immigration
The March for Racial Justice on Sunday October 1st, 2017 is a Call to Action to give support to grassroots organizations already working against these systemic issues. This is a commitment to a lifestyle change, one where we collectively make the fight for Racial Justice part of our daily routine.
