🚀 That’s a wrap for ISDC 2026!

What an amazing few days for the WSPEC team and the space elevator community.

Our Mini Space Elevator Workshop received such strong interest that all available spots were filled, and we even added an extra workshop session! Thank you to everyone who joined, built, learned, asked questions, and shared your excitement with us.

We were also grateful to receive wonderful feedback and to see growing interest in space elevators and future space elevator competitions.

Events like ISDC remind us that big ideas begin with curiosity, hands-on learning, and a community willing to imagine what comes next.

Thank you for being part of this journey!

Until next time! 🌎🚀

What happens at a Mini Space Elevator Workshop? 🛠️

At ISDC 2026, in partnership with the and , we are hosting three hands-on sessions to teach the core mechanics and requirements of the space elevator.

Here is what you can expect:

Beginner Tracks (2 Sessions): Build a small robotic climber to understand the essential design considerations for WSPEC competitions and learn about the future of space access.

Advanced Track (1 Session): Takes the foundational hardware experience a step further with an introductory programming challenge. (Note: Please bring a laptop for this session!)

Thanks to our sponsors, these workshops are a fun, practical way to understand the engineering behind tethered climbers and get the insight needed to enter a WSPEC competition.

Why Kazakhstan? 🌍

As WSPEC continues to expand its global footprint, reaching new regions is essential to building a worldwide space elevator community. For our upcoming Regional Competition, Kazakhstan was the clear choice to serve as our central hub for Asia:

📍 Ultimate Asian Hub: Situated perfectly in Central Asia, it provides an accessible location for teams from across the continent to gather and compete.

🚀 Growing Space Talent: Kazakhstan represents a surging aerospace sector driven by exceptional young talent. In fact, their students became four-time consecutive world champions in robotics at FIRST Global in 2025.

🌌 Proven Infrastructure: With vast open lands for real hardware testing and the established global space hub of Baikonur, the region possesses the practical foundation needed for the next era of aerospace innovation.

This is what going global looks like. We are proud to bring the challenge to Central Asia.
