Who are we; What do we do; Where do we operate and How do we sustain the organization????
Founded in 1999, Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium/CBJC is a nonprofit corporation committed to preserving, promoting, and supporting live music within the under-served communities of Brooklyn. The membership consists of jazz aficionados, entertainment venues, musicians, faith-based institutions, and community organizations. Over the past twenty, (20) years CBJC has presented the Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival and established a Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame™. This arts organization produces yearly programs: Youth Jazz Jamboree/Wellness Day; Jazz! The Women’s Viewpoint, and a summer jazz concert series at community venues. All programming features local talent in venues throughout central Brooklyn.
CBJC is a volunteer organization, no salaries, bonuses, or expense accounts. Every dollar goes into programming, administrating, and operational expenses.
Membership dues, donations, grants, and patronage account for the bulk of the organization’s income. Talk with us, check us out, and join the alliance called the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium.
