Save the Bushwick Inlet

After fighting for over a decade alongside our partners, we secured habitat protections for one of America’s most critically endangered pollinators. This win is the result of our lawsuit, filed in collaboration with the Center for Biological Diversity and Friends of Minnesota Scientific and Natural Areas, which successfully challenged the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s earlier decision to deny critical habitat for the species. This is a massive step in the right direction for the species’ survival.

Two yards. Same street. Same night.

The one on the left looks finished — lit from every angle, bright and visible. The one on the right looks dark and quiet.

🌿 The dark yard has fireflies flashing in the grass. A sphinx moth pollinating the flowers. A toad hunting under the porch step. Migrating birds passing overhead without circling.

The bright yard has insects spiraling at the bulbs. No fireflies. No moths at the flowers. The same species that filled the dark yard are absent from this one.

Greenpoint & Williamsburg: Time is Running Out to Protect Our Waterfront! The rezoning clock is ticking loudly as private developers are pushing to upzone 40 Quay Street, aiming to build mostly luxury towers that would block the Inlet and park, and wipe out years of community efforts to preserve public land for public good.

Stand with your neighbors at the “Save the Inlet” community meeting on Nov. 5. Let’s unite to defend Bushwick Inlet Park and ensure this vital space remains accessible for everyone—not just an amenity for luxury tower residents.
